I normally get cheap tickets, but I can't be as flexible as I was when I was a student, getting into London at 00:45 on a Sunday night, then catching the night bus home to be up for 6am just isn't a viable option anymore.. If I'm going to spend 6 hours of my weekend on the train I at least want to be up on a Friday night! Anyone know when the £10er tickets come on sale because as I said, look 3 months ahead on the Trainline on a Sunday and there isn't a sniff... Think I'll just go into Kings X and ask at the ticket office, always seem to get more and cheaper options in person than off the net...
You're not too far behind dear, but then it all went downhill for you when you wern't 19 anymore if I remember rightly
You can sign up here: http://fs3.emv2.com/uk/gner/join/webform.html to get notified when the tickets are released.
Re: Gner they do exist u just have to book em in advance i travel backwards and 4wards all the time as my mum lives in london and it only costs £10 per single
i got some the other week - i couldnt get sat and sunday so im going friday night (get to london about 8) and im coming back on the 9.30am train monday morning they do exsist - and you can get them off midland mainline they charge a booking fee so its about £12 each way depends when you want to go and how flexible you can be - im off to see a pal so i dont have to worry about extra hotels charges etc etc
The website for the company (Grand Central) quotes Sunderland - London at £64 return which makes them more expensive than GNER unless you pay for an open ticket.. and it's already running apparently?
wasn't Scruf having a pop at everyone for "not booking their trains early enough" not so long ago?? Claiming that people were stupid if they didn't? Justice
I was, and this thread pretty much proved me right.. I was just chucking the rattle out because I was being lazy and couldn't be arsed to dig, as a result someone found me a ticket on here.. like good old Scrooge McDuck once said, 'work smarter, not harder'
just booked a first class ticket for someone the other day the trainline website was about £12 more expensive than going to gner direct. i always thought they were identical but this was def cheaper on the gner website. it also pisses me off how you could buy a ticket well in advance but then there will be cheaper fares released actually closer to the time. well offside.
if in doubt just get the bus over night £12 get mortal before you go on, neck a couple of sleeping tablets and voila - you're back home before you know it
