Zipping... How much can I realistically expect to zip 80gb of music down to, will it take me till 2008, and is winzip still the best program to use? ta
It will take totally ages to compress 80gig! As above it will depend on the file types your compressing as to how smaller they will get (Baring in mind mp3 is already a compressed format). If I'm right I think compressing music files can also damage the quality. (If that bothers you) Personally I wudnt bother....
Re: Re: Zipping... Noted. Does price have a great deal of baring on quality . operability when buying a hard drive for £30?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Zipping... I used to be one. Tbh.. I like to give ppl info that can either get them a good deal or that will save them time and effort
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Zipping... Not that I'm aware of.. The salesmans handbook is all about selling shite for massive margins.
If your PC is older than 4 years then you may have problems with drives bigger than 127GB...even if you put in a 320GB it could show up as 127GB. I won't bother to explain why For that reason I bought a 320GB Western Digital external drive for £70. If it's a new PC....then not to worry! As for the compression, mp3s are already compressed so the difference wouldn't be particularly significant
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Zipping... What an unfunny cunt. Cheers lads, its 18 months old Chris so that won't be a worry..
Download and use 7-Zip - It's free and pisses all over winzip for compression ratio's - Choose 'Ultra' compression and change from the '7z' file format to 'Zip' inside the software. It also opens loads of other archive types so you don't even need to have things like WinRar installed.
