Radiohead - Everything (in it's right place)

Not alot to say but what a fuckin' cool tune. So many mad sounds/samples goin' on in it. lots of dance producers could learn a few lessons from Thom and the lads me thinks.

Not necessarily a Radiohead fan, not really heard much of their stuff, but what I have heard rocks. I'll be sure to check this out.

Radiohead kick fucking arse hard, been listening to em a bit this weekend...

Best CD - Pablo Honey, best tune, Creep

Lots of Promise ppl don't listen to much else apart from dance, and forget that it had to evolve from somewhere! If you've never listened to anything else but trance, how the fuck can you understand trance?

Anyone else think that some classical music would be wikkid sampled? Lots of tunes now seem very orchestral anyway, esp lots of DJ Tiesto In my Memory...

So true, I only got into dance in my mid teens, I was a hip-hop head before that. I try to listen as much varied music as possible because variety is the spice of life (IMHO).

Talking of classical samples Will Orbit's Addagio For Strings deserves a mention. It may be very commercialised but it is so well done, I would love to be able to play it to Barber to see what he would think of it. (I bet he'd love it).

(sorry for any names mispelt :D)

I personally hate to see classical peices ruined by dance producers... William Orbit done a good job - but when compared to the original I think its quite bland... it lacks the emotion.

Lee (foster - u seem to know all things trancey) is there any producers to of used ochestra's to produce original good pieces? I know faithless did, but it was a veyr basic arrangement which they then ruined by running it through synths?!?!?

Exactly, hearing that over the weekend got me thinking along those lines....

Joe, I agree, I hate to see top classical tunes butchered, beethoven's 9th in another fuckin pap Die Hard movie with Bruce Willis. I can think of a few examples in rock/pop where classics have been sampled, or whole tunes pinched and just re-done, and well too.

I'm sure it would sound lush if done properly. I don't think there is much of a gap between some classical, and some dance (particularly trance), and the emotions they evoke are very similar - uplifting, floaty, blah, blah....

i think hybrid used an orchestra in their album "wide angle"

oh and i agree with that about variety - i listen to loadsa different types on dance, from trance to techno to funky house to all the old stuff like frankie knuckles - your love, raze - break 4 love, stuff like that... original version of shannon - let the music play, is probly my fave tune right now... also love bob dylan, he is a genius, well and truly
