It's always been cliquey, infact it was worse when Promise was still going.

<geek>it was a swarm of googlebots indexing all of the pages for search terms.

They stopped google from indexing the forum after that :) </geek>

I've been coming on this board for about a year now even though i only joined as a member fairly recently. IMO it has always been extremely cliquey and recently there's been more politics than in your average office. I think this discourages people who do not know anyone in person from posting. You only have to go on another forum and you can sense everyone is friendlier and far more positive.

I think half the problem with this board is that people keep going on about how good the board used to be, which may make newer members feel excluded or unwelcome. Personally i'm most interested in the mixes, music and sport forums but these seem to be the quietest so I don't post that much which brings me to the next problem IMO, which is that it can come across in some threads that there is a hieracy according to your post count.

Personally i like this board and don't think it needs new mods. If people don't like it then don't come on. If you don't like a thread, don't post in it. That way the board will seem a friendlier place and the new members that everyone keeps begging for might sign up after visiting the site, instead of thinking f*** it, there's plenty of other message boards, i'll go there. At the moment there's far too many negative comments flying around.

I think there's something in this. Years ago, a lot of new people who joined at least knew somebody on the board, from Promise or whatever, and thus were always "accepted" and not ribbed too much.

The association with Promise was probably more advantageous than we care to give credit for also, as then, at least most people on here had at least one thing in common. Now, with this board having no real affiliation with any night and it being somewhat of a smorgasbord of people with different tastes, there's more opportunity for arguments and differences of opinion. Plus, we all used to enjoy going down to Promise, getting martalled, and having ridiculous afterparties at various peoples' houses. Now, were all miserable old cunts who just seem to want to whinge, and slate people for doing the things that we used to.

A change in moderation is not what's needed, probably more a change in messageboard clientéle, or at least the realisation that things on here aren't going to change, because all of the people who have been here from the start, and continue to post regularly, have changed.

Plus, at the end of the day, it's only a messageboard. People are perhaps a little too attached to it, as is evident in this thread, talking about it as if it's some form of Fight Club-esque secret society. It's not real, guys, we all have each others' mobile numbers, and most of you spend your evenings chatting to the same people on msn as you do on here...

If Rob has been concerned about the raicsm on here we could maybe have someone to keep check on that and delete all the racist stuff. A mod who mostly only does that, leaving Jess and Robb free to deal with other stuff.

If there's stuff people find offensive report it all. If the mods don't see it they can't do anything ahout it unless we tell them :D

the board has been a bit slow latley but people have been saying that for the last three years .

and the same threads about how boring it is and the death of the board have been coming up over and over again .

The real death of the board is peoples inability to move on who gives a toss if the craic was better now then if its no good now then come up with some ffs moaning like a nun being broken in by a donkey isnt going to help anyone :D
