Which snowboard?

Seeing as though theres a fair few boarders on here (probably much better than me) - I was wondering if anyone could give me advice I'm torn between this seasons Apo MTD:



and last seasons Ride DH:



I want a board I can take to the parks that wont sink in pow... I'm far from advanced and I've only ever rode rentals but I want something that will cater for my skills as I get more steez.

Out of those two, the ride DH. I ride my park board all mountain.

Faster, and you don't have to spend half your day unbuckling yourself/jumping on flat bits

How much is the ride? I've just checked my board for this season and it's 240 inc vat.

I have a friend who is a wicked snowboarder, and swears by Burton - other people have told me they're overpriced for what they are and the obvious choice though?

Yeh one of my boards is Burton. I got a sweet deal on it though and would't have paid retail on it, they can be quite pricey.

His was about £450 I think - took a huge chunk out of the bottom on the first day as well :doh:

Both between £250-300 (depending where you purchase).

Thinking about buying ex-test if I buy the ride though, should still have enough pop for what I'll need

a burton dominator was my last choice.... but think you get more for your money with less brand oriented comapnies.

they're comfortable.... straps hurt my feet

A dominant? That is a jib board, it's not gonna ride good on the mountain. I'm partial towards Atomic now, they make some sweet boards.

Flow bindings are total gash btw, if straps hurts your feet then you have them set wrong. Look at getting some burton bindings with toe caps.

the only reason I considered the dominant was the price tag... I can get one off a mate with bindings for 150.

How are flow bindings gash? you spend half of your day sat at the top of the slope strapping in while I'm having fun

I don't know anyone who likes Flow and i've ridden with a lot of people, they lack response and look shit. If speed is the only issue, i bet i could strap in quicker than you could with flows. Get a cheap pair of burton bindings over flow any day, customs or the like would do.

If you want a recommendation for a board which is going to be soft to ride so you can mess about in the park with it and hold its own on the mountain. This is the one

I'm still riding last seasons hatchet which has different graphs but it'll be the same board. Super fun to ride and can handle a powder day if needs be. Try and find last seasons model as it was the top selling board, you may struggle though as stock at the end of the season was very low.

if I can find last seasons model I should save enough money to buy some new flow bindings

I'll start googling now.

What sort of level are you at with boarding Joe?

Another vote for regular bindings here too.

I've used some Flow ones before and found the response wasn't as good and the feel just wasn't there as much as with my strap Burtons, there was too much flex and movement in my feet, making the board harder to control!!

Perhaps they were just a bad example though..

I would have thought that somebody as swish as you would be buying a board that is to be 'in', 2 seasons from now.
