    Cheap 256mb GFX Card - where?

    Can someone point me to one, reasonably cheap, even better if it's on ebay :up:

    are you just after something to display a picture or something to play games?

    if you're after it for games use that one's not going to do the job, you'll need a 9800 or better at least.

    i'm not a big gamer but i will be playing a few older games, just wanted a cheap 256mb card, around 30ish quid, that i can spend some paypal money on

    Dont know much about them to be honest as I dont play games on PC.
    Im running ATI Radeon 9550 256MB DDR TV-Out/DVI.

    Its says its £32.84 on overclockers.co.uk and theres one on ebay for £35 buy it now inc. postage. ebay link

    do you really need 256mb?

    i thought that it was wasted having that much

    i had a cheap shit nvidia 256mb card that was around £90 when i bought it, a month or so back i bought a reconditioned at 9700 pro for £40 deliverd from fleabay and its pretty dam fucken good tbh

    i only ever play live for speed and the odd bit of unreal 2003, so it suits me down to the ground

    FPS in LFS jumped from around 20ish to 80ish and i turned on AA+4 + AF+8 at the same time, 9800 pro will be a little more :)

    You should be looking for something like those 2.. preferably a 6800 non gt/ultra..
    Its the chipset that matters.. not the memory!

    aha! turns out the machine i need to install it on, isn't AGP, it's PCI Express - are these cheaper?

    Its off the members market on ocuk.. so its second hand..
