    Get YOUR facts right -

As stated by Great Ormond Street Hospital "Plagiocephaly affects around 50% of babies under one"

Babies are NOT checked for plagiocephaly at birth OR at 6 week check-ups "THAT IS WHY WE ARE ASKING THIS TO HAPPEN ON THE PETITION".

In Scotland there are NO hospitals which provide treatment on the NHS for plagiocephaly.

At present parents ARE NOT being advised on repositioning or even told that the condition has a name. I speak on behalf of over 50 families I am in contact with in Scotland whose babies have plagiocephaly.

HELMETS DO WORK - Robbie measured at 15mm assymetry (this means that his left side of his fact "plagio side" sticks out 15mm further than the other. 6 weeks after having his helmet fitted his assymetry had reduced to 7mm).

We are also asking on the petition that a medical trial takes place to PROVE to the NHS that helmet therapy DOES work. At the end of the day if parents are advised on repositioning then this should avoid helmet therapy being necessary in the majority of cases. A very small percentage of babies who suffer from plagiocephaly are born with it. Most develop it due to their heads resting on hard surfaces at around 4-8 weeks.

    Now you have the facts.

If you want any further information or advice then please look at www.headstart4babies.co.uk or www.plagiocephalyuk.co.uk

On another note folks - thanks all soooo much for your help on this. The petition closes tomorrow at midnight and we almost have 1500 signatures on-line and have around another 4,500 on paper. Fingers crossed and will keep you all updated.

IF YOU HAVEN'T SIGNED ALREADY THEN PLEASE PLEASE SIGN NOW

Thanks from the bottom of our hearts.

    Love

    Claire & Robbie xx

This is your strongest bet for getting them on the NHS.

Campaign for the funding, and the researchers will follow the money.

Once you know they work, you will be in a strong position to ask for them on the NHS.

It really hurts as a mother here that you lot of insensitive WANKERS think it funny to slag off my 11 months old son.

    YOU SICK FUCKS!!!!

HOPE WHEN YOU HAVE KIDS THEY ARE BORN WITH 3 HEADS & THEY ARE ALL SQUARE ONES!!!

To everyone else who has showed their support thanks again.

Take a proper read at the petition when you go to the site on-line to sign the petition - GO TO INFORMATION. You willl then see exactly what we are asking. IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT GETTING THE HELMETS ON THE NHS (Infact that is the least important issue and the last on the list of 4 points).

Why don't you start a charity for it?

You will be able to produce leaflets to inform parents about it, and be in a position to look at getting research funding

I am a trustee of the charity Headstart4babies. The only UK charity to offer support on plagiocephaly. I am in control of the Scottish side of things and offer support to families throughout Scotland. We are desperately seeking sponsorship to try and do research into plagiocephaly, but to date no-one has come forward.

    do you know of anyone?????

    wishful thinking.

    How are we being heartless?

Its not like your child suffered, still has a flat head or is in any danger.... he/she just looked funny for a few months.

How is it any different from wearing braces?

I think the notion of a 6 week check-up is a good idea and cost effective, but if the condition is as common as you say giving away helments (if they are unproven) to every egghead in the country would take away large amounts of money the NHS couldn't afford.

My grief wasn't at your flatheaded offspring - it was at the majority of this board that signed the petition blindly.

sorry if I've offended you or robbie :)

    xx
