Computers asking 4 boot disk Ive got Xp but the bugger crashed, when i try to reboot its asking for boot disk and wont start..... any ideas chaps??
Re: Re: Computers asking 4 boot disk If it's asking for a boot disk then it's a bit more serious than that... does the machine see your hard drive on bootup?
Re: Re: Re: Computers asking 4 boot disk I was just thinking he could try the system recovery to fix the bootup sequence as this may be the problem.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Computers asking 4 boot disk If it was a corrupted boot then it would display "NTLDR is missing" or such like. "Please insert boot disk" usually comes up when the machine doesn't detect the drive on startup and then skips to the next drive in the boot order
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Computers asking 4 boot disk You may well be right mate. I thought it meant that the hard drive is not bootable due to the boot sector of the drive being corrupt which can be fixed using xp recovery.
