    Then you could argue that

    a) You live in an area known for alot of binge drinking compared to other regions.
    b) You know people who might have easier access to said drugs (Dont misinterpret that)

    ... Which could give skewed statistics which arent indicative of a country as a whole

    Im making a comment on the actual statistics versus the column inches we dedicate to it all - You know im not stupid enough to say it doesnt happen or isnt a bad thing.

    Theres a decent point im making here :)

    I'm sorry buit how ever your wrap it I'd guess over 10,000 people are "date raped" (not spiked... the statistic is far higher) a year. That many rape victims is worthy of a fucking paper! nevermind column space.

    I think Brid is pointing out that not all date rapes involve spiking. He is talking about scaremongering over spiking, rather than date rape.

    How is it scaremongering?

    If you have a 5 year old child you dont let it roam the streets at midnight.

    If your female you keep an eye on your drink.

    There's no harm in bringing such a huge problem to the attention of the general public.... It would be far more dangerous to pretend it didn't exist, thousands of drinks get spiked, half of all reported rape cases are date rape.

    What do you achieve from not covering the problem?

    (btw I guess the current hype was triggered from the first ever released statistics)

    I no a woman that it actually happened to! she is a family friend. She went to the doctors because she was having problems. Turned out that her infection had came from a dead body-her boyfriend did work at an undertakers. He admitted it and is now in jail. This was a couple of years ago now but it was in the local paper and the woman ended up moving away from the area. :eek:
