I would have said yes - but not enough to consistantly fill a club of 1000+ capacity with a crowd who know and love the scene enough to turn up even if the Judge or Ferry Corsten is on.

    Maybe a 700 capacity venue.

i do! i miss it! i enjoyed meeting up with everybody and going to promise/vuzz etc..! I'm not fussed on 'big' names i just like good music! for example when Vuzz got Ronski Speed/Riley & Durrant/that dutch bloke who came to the after party and got total wrecked, Misja Helsoot or summit! i think now a smaller night would work - like brid said -

Yeah i agree Nass - I guess any night that puts on the 'obvious' dj's is doomed to attracting a massive proportion of chav types.

I guess it boils down to whether there are promotors willing to take the risk to build a more left-of-centre trance night and risk losing money but having a good crowd...

.... or just accepting that the toon is full of scallys who would outnumber the more decent clubbers out there that enjoy that kind of music as well.

I think its already been proven really that uness you book obvious names noone will turn up in Newcastle, we had promise which tbh had turned pretty repetitive, but also had smaller nights like vuzz and twisted booking quality djs,
promise got loads of numbers whereas vuzz etc didn't get anywhere near the ammount of people. In newcastle the crowd seem to care about the venue and how many lazers it has more than the dj thats on, and dont seem to know much apart from the obvious.

going off what i've said aswell you have to say thats what trance is all about, dreamy music, dark clubs and alot to do with the atmosphere in a club, hense why it never works in a bar surroundings :)

djs wise i thought they picked some class people, especially Ben Lost. Vuzz was in a bar to start with, and like i said trance isn't just about the music alot is to do with the venue aswell, there was many a time at promise where i had random people ask me who was acually playing and didn't have a clue, a large chunk of people went cos it was somewhere dark and dingy where they could get wrecked to some dance music, they cant do that in a bright bar.

from what I saw at Byker Bridge and from general word on the street (as well as the success of Crystal Yamantaka in Leeds & similar in Edinburgh), I predict quite a Psy Trance scene to develop in Newcastle during 2006

In October there was a rave in the two warehouses under two arches of the bridge, Psy Trance in one and Reggae in the other - had to be will over 500 people in the Trance room let alone the reggae. Got shut down by the police at 7am and my mate who organised it spent the day in the cells on Sunday, but got away with a caution. Fabulous night!
