Foxhunters as mentioned is pretty nice.

Dolphin in Tynemouth is really good too (top Dolphin next to the golf course, not the one on the Quay).

Sambucca on the fish quay is really good... or was the last time I went! Huge portions too, very reasonable price. :D

The Millhouse in Washington is sublime. Allways packed tho so guess its a sign that they are nice.

Cant beat the Toby Carvery either, especially for portion wise as its unlimited veggies, yorkies and roasties.

Yeah we liked the Millhouse, just got there in time, they were queuing out the door lol

Toby Carvery was the worst dinner I've ever had in my life. Me and Rach didn't eat hardly any of it, and I told the manager that, and got half our money back. Everything about it was disgusting!

Shiremoor Farm is down the round from where I live. Food is good.

However, The Ridley Arms in Stannigton (on way to Morpeth) is better.

I've always heard good things about the Toby, but I wasn't prepared to wait 50 minutes to find out. Definately not prepared to try after that review!
Never rated chain pubs myself, everything on the menu is set out by the brewery and prepared to look like a photo on the kitchen wall. It's hard to find independently run pubs these days unless you go to the far end of a :fart:
