Fao All Newcastle Uni Students!! Hello all, I've been looking at the possbility of getting together a clubbing society (I believe there used to be one a couple of years ago) and was just wanting to see the level of interest - if any!! So anyone at Newcastle Uni who likes clubbing (any musical taste), is a DJ, or is interested in getting involved with promoting events let me know below. Cheers, Jack

Good luck with this. Thought about doing this a few years back and but couldn't really be arsed with all the unions bureaucracy and petty politics. Seems they'll happily sponsor a 'Diesel appreciation Society' yet wouldn't back a clubbing society. Either way, good luck again, there's a whole new council to contend with so chances are you'll have a lot more success.
I know mate, already had to deal with a fair bit and hardly got started in the whole process yet!! Hopefully once it's set up it'll be a lot easier, but I'm not gonna hold my breath on it.
hmmmm i think this will be tough to get off the ground and keep going.... you could try seeing the comms officer about it to ask him about advertising etc?
I joined the clubbing society but it was shite! They went to IKON and stuff, Hardly Hardcore! I never went past the signing up!
Rest assured that will NOT be the aim!! For those into house, breaks, techno etc there are plenty of quality underground (and some overground) nights available in newcastle. For those into trance, hard dance etc like myself (and I'm guessing from your avatar you aswell) the options are rather more limited. However, if people are keen then Tall Trees, Manchester, Leeds etc are all within reach. The basic aim is to get people together who like the same sort of music to go to 'proper' nights - i.e. not the boat,blu bamboo etc. In the long run I want to get people involved in promoting our own events, giving opportunities to local DJ's etc. So if your still at Newcastle and fancy giving it another go then please do!! I'll keep you updated with the details.
i bet everyone has a fight over what is considered a "proper night" people you take drugs in nightclubs with are not your friends!!
Yeah, slow progress though! Did you get my email??? As i said posters should be up monday then we have to sort out some kind of committee to run the thing and go from there!! I'll email you again in a week or so.
