Giving Blood - nightmare Went to give blood tonight and now I'm sitting here covered in plasters feeling sorry for myself. Apparently my iron count is too low, my veins are too small and my blood flow is crap. Had to test to see if I had anaemia (jab in one arm) Took 15 minutes to fill half a bag and then they tried to rotate the needle to speed the flow up. (jab in t'other arm) I nearly had to be picked off the roof. Won't be deterred though, Scott is going to be bled on Mon and I'm back in Feb for another crack.
I'm going tomorrow. I've heard some horror stories from other people but I've managed to give blood no problem everytime I've been before.
First time was fine but I am just over the min weight thingy and my arms are pathetic, like lolly pop sticks so that didn't help. However I am pretty fit and healthy so was suprised about the iron thing. Wouldn't discourage anyone from doin it though, I am just a biff!
i have a fear of neck, wrists and blood (think i was perhaps a vampire in my last life or sumit?!) anyway, this is something ive always thought id do to try and get over this fear - i literaly go weak when i think of it. But i had to get like three drops of blood out of a finger for this allergy test i did at home and after one drop i was slumped over the table like i was unconcious or sumit.
i sat for about 3 or 4 hours in northumbria uni last time they had the vampires there - took blood no problem ( i think I have some kind of smack vein in my arm) and i didnt get a cuppa or biscuits GRRRR thats all i went for. giving blood sucks (if you will excuse the pun)
Everyone who can should give blood It's not exactly a big deal. Besides, I'm too poor to give money to charity, so I give my blood instead
