been looking at the job market round here lately and it is just Call Centre , Call Centre , Call Centre

is this the only skill the North East has to offer Britain?

it took me about 7 months to find a good, graduate job in the NE

the choice is rubbish, unless you get turned on by data entry or admin

Lack of any decent jobs for graduates in any quantity or decent salaries forced me to move out the region :( The place could do with some incentives for higher paid industries to set up shop, instead of just call centres

What kind of thing are you looking for ?

There are loads of I.T. jobs, sales jobs , finance jobs . what is it you want ?

Call center jobs ?:spangled: there are a lot of them but id say the job market has picked up loads in the last 4 years !

Job market is sh!t up here. Can't get anything over about £15k.

You get "sorry, not enough experience" when going for jobs you've studied for. The only way to get the experience is to take low paid, bottom of the pile jobs and work up. Problem being, once you've been to uni, you can't afford to take such jobs, catch 22.

I'm thinking of going back to uni part time (whilst keeping on my full time job) to do something completely different (law) but that's still no guarantee of progressing.

job scene is shit up here.

just look at the chronicle on thursdays - nurses, HGVs, teachers or crap seems to be the norm... any worth while jobs are fought over and the pay is below standard...

    even leeds is better..

I've just applied for a different job, over 100 people have gone for 4 jobs.

A while back, Newcastle Crown Court got over 3000 applications for one £13k a year job! Competition for basic (non call centre) jobs is unreal!

My gfriend is a qualified primary school teacher but is having an absolute MARE finding a job

she got close to full marks for her placement , a 2:1 for her degree and not to sound biased , is shit hot

Every job she goes for has between 300-550 people applying for them and loads of them have experience.....i feel so sorry for her , the only realistic way she is going to get a teaching job is to move away from here

I didn't think lectureres / researchers at unis got paid that much. esp since they are normally the cleverer ones

Been out the country for a year, so i've been hunting for the past couples of weeks for jobs up here to get me sorted out. Looking through the chronicle on a thursday there are very few jobs that appeal to me each week.

Yeh a mates moved down to london to teach and been given a wicked deal which involved all kinds of bonuses. He's teaching in the secondary sector and recons the school he's at is a lot less rough than the ones he taught at up here.
