theres always been an indie scene, but it hasnt always been fashionable. Went out of fashion with the demise of the brit pop scene, came back riding the shoulders of the strokes and the likes.

to me then it always has been cool. i was to young for brit pop and started going out around the time when the strokes came about.

If you'll read my posts I was simply saying Foundation's night are the best promoted nights in town. The Digital nights are being promoted well too.

And speaking from experience BTW flyering DOES work as part of good promotion all round.

pre 2001 (read strokes) indie was about as cool as hard house... the last time before that i'd reckon it was the early 90's till britpop kicked in...

You lot should be happy that you have a new club opening. If we had half that selection down here in Boro it would be great. At the mo we have one proper club/gig venue in the Empire and the Town Hall. Nearly everything else is a trendy late licence bar or shitty beerboy "clubs"

the doves only hit the mark when they released 'there goes the fear' in 2002... even then they aren't indie they're midlife crisis pop rock, i saw them in hammersmith last year and it was possibly the dullest gig i've ever been to... other than snow patrol at the uni...

i reckon foundation will do a roaring trade if it starts doing decent funky house nights like this foundation presents thing is looking and if hed kandi start doing more things there, funky house aint my cup of tea but there is a load of people who are well into it

To be honest I cant see how wax on is going to get a large amount of punters week in week out. Hope Im wrong. Dont think there is a demand for such a night in newcastle week in week out. On this board there might be but that aint going to fill a club. Feel they will suffer as promise did too.

they're hardly credible dmc dj's, they're more the party dmc turntablists.

I think it could... its got the biggest hype around it out of any of the new wave of clubs...

i couldnt care less about all the politics, or whos night is where, or who plays for who, or whos night closes. Im just looking forward to hearing some good music, and if all these changes mean good stuff, then its fine by me. soulwax and headman sound good to me.

We should just count ourselves lucky we have so much going on, thats not just weekends cos even weekdays there's always summit to do - be happy for Newcastle and try ya best to support things

I've seen swamp with beck, I've seen swamp live, I've seen most the scratch dj's that stonelove have booked at stonelove and elsewhere.

I also know that in the turntable profession these are small fry dj's, they all won back in the 80's when turntablism had barely evolved...

i think they have done the math and there is a definate market for a club aimed at that. just look at all the kids on the street into it man. Its not brain science to see thats whats gonna take off. plus as someone said up there ^ the more choice the better, you may just get a hankerin for a bit of scratch on a thursday wednesday or whatever, beer is not the reason its always about the shit they play and if newcastle gets a name for it all the better think of the dj's it would bring in, we could make it our own and shake it up....
