    but surely if you are for total free speech without censorship then even the racist should be allowed to air their views, no matter how offensive they are.

    if you don't think they should be able to air their views then you are advocating censorship on free speech whether you like it or not.

    it doesn't matter if you can't comprehend this, and i fully expect you not to be able too, as it is a cold hard fact, that is completely irrefutable.

    through gritted teeth, yeah even the racists are allowed free speech, because it's miles more important than a few people getting offended having to hear or see stuff they don't like

    Did you see me say ANYWHERE in this thread that criticising a religion is racist?

    Or that I agreed with the pope/vatican's stance over ww2?

    Or anything suggesting that I was attempting to force my religious beliefs (or otherwise) onto others?

    If you bothered to read this thread you'll find the only problem I have is with Lee's sense of humour and with Coletrickle's ability to string together an argument (regardless of spelling mistakes).

    I think you'll find it was Jambon that said it was racist...

    Jambon said it was racist.

    I said that Lee's original post was in bad taste.

    I've not said anywhere in this thread it was racist :rolleyes:

    There's disagreeing and then there's posting a photoshop image of the Vatican with Nazi banners on it :rolleyes:

    How would you feel if someone did that to something you hold important to you or something you believe in?

    missing first page of bible has been found hidden in a bunker under the vatican, it reads;

    There are two points that people don't seem to be making much of here: one, religious belief _can_ (imo) be absolutely wrong and justifyably condemnable - any religion involving unwilling human sacrifice would be included in this for me. for example - whereas a race cannot be justly discriminated against, under any circumstances.

    Secondly - even if criticising religious belief were morally wrong, then ColeTrickle is not criticising belief, he is condemning the actions of an organisation. Surely, no matter what its professed point of view, an organisation must be subject to investigation of its actions, and ultimately, responsibility for them: I don't see how condemning someones actions, notwithstanding the fact that those actions CONTRADICT and thereby insult true Christian beliefs, can be impinged.

    I don't think the Vatican is Nazi, however. Historical links probably exist: unsurprising, given the size of the organisation and the historical context.

    People do that all the time to me, reaction is both quite legal and widely practised, extending to common lampoons and skits.
