here we go again. what kind of statement is that? My dad doesnt like the 'cool' music of the moment, and he thinks Psy Trance is shit too.

in my experience Psy trance is what people who like breaks, drum and bass, and hip hop call shit trance, to make it 'ok' to like it, and convince themselves they are better than people who go to Promise in full cyber.

No tulip doesn't play psy trance but he's meant to have been doing a few psy sets recently.

Psy trance is fucking awesome and one of the best things about it is it's so diverse and as yet untouched.

There is loads of psychedelic influenced prog, breaks, techno, ambient stuff as well as a few different varieties of Trance with people just making music however they like. I'd say it was more of a cultural thing in a way than one specific genre so to say it's just shit trance wouldn't really make sense.

Even Fizz was loving a bit Astrix on the way to Twisted Logic the other week. ;)

Psy trance is pretty poo I think, sounds like speeded up prog most of the time, Astrix stuff is alright but most of it is stoner music with a beat.

Psy trance is much closer to how trance used to be before it went all fluffy. Its like the bridge between techno and trance.

I've not heard all that much of it but there's some fucking mint Psy out there. Some of it I don't like but if it was used at the right time/place it would be amazing.

I do like him playing Promise tho cos Thrillseekers / Flaming June is always guarenteed to get dropped - at the end of his set too ;)

I wouldn't really call Fleming a psy DJ. It depends what time he's playing really but he will drop the odd tune or do a psy trance set.

it is psychedelic in that it is the music played in the psychedelic club culture, and the synaesthetic sounds in it make a lot more sense when you are shroomed or whatever.

Go to a night like Chichime in London, have a proper psytrance experience, and then you will be in a position to criticise it. Otherwise, it's like people labelling dance music as "boom-boom shite" becaus they have NO idea of the culture behind it.
