Yeah, out of a sort of contrition - it doesn't even near make financial sense.

Why oh why don't they use those pretty ticket turnstiles they have had installed for 15 years, like the London underground? About a week after they were installed, they covered up the ticket slot and allowed them to ratchet freely...

Its beyond me why the firm who runs the metro would rather employ a load of people to check tickets at the top of the turnstiles and on the trains themselves - than to implement whatever it takes to check the tickets and allow/deny people to pass through the turnstiles.

    Plain old stupidity eh.

I only get a metro about once a year these days, but in 15 years of living in Newcastle I have never not paid.

With the exception of a few times I have always paid. Used to get the metro every day from Howdon to town and back and always paid.

i've always bought a ticket. am i too honest? i think it's a good service, most citys would be jealous of the areas it covers.

if im going a decent distance i get one, tho not if im only going to heaton or walkergate, as its a fucking rip off paying £1.50 for 2 stops or something

been caught once recently, paid £10, not bad for 2 years of travel :p

Never pay and got caught the other week. Not arsed though, I've saved shitloads.

When the reason I did not buy a ticket was asked I said "It's cheaper this way" and the woman didn't look very impressed seeing as everyone else had some elaborate lie. I think I'll deffinitely give a fake adress next time.

I have used the Metro every single week day for 4 years and have been caught 5 times, when they do catch ya just say the machine swallowed your money, they dont have a leg to stand on and have to let you go on your merry way, the money i save not buying metro passes pays me to go to Ibiza every year :king:
