Even our Dead come second to Muslims

A close friend of mine passed away last week and his wife has been trying to arrange a funeral asap.

She was shocked to be told she would have to wait nearly two weeks for a slot to become available.

She was distraught, as she wanted this sorted asap as can be understood.

She pleaded with the director for a earlier slot but he said there was no way he could give her a earlier slot UNLESS he was a Muslim. If he was a Muslim he could be buried tomorrow.

Yeah yeah they might have "religious reasons" for getting earthed within a certain time but I still find this disgusting and is yet further proof that we come second in our own country.

that is shocking! You should be able to get a funeral asap and not just cos your muslim. How the hell do muslims come first in a christian country? wtf is going on, i hope the people who slate me and teknofish have the bottle to say how they really feel about this and other things like this which we bring to your attention.

it sounds to me as though a funeral service has chosen simply to adopt this policy.

thinking about it more, it does appear to be perfectly legal though, as essentialy the funeral company is selling the service of the funeral and as such is well within their discretion to decide who and when they do business, just in the same way a shopkeeper can decide not to serve you or serve someone before you if they so chose.

no you divvy, it's cos their religion says they have to be buried within 24 hours, which probably comes from the fact they live in hot climes where they'll start putrefying otherwise

surely if you were a funeral director and had to prepare for funeral in a shorter time than you would normally expect, then you would charge a higher fee?

hence why they would be prepared to take on the extra work if the deceased was a muslim.

i however know absolutely squat about the funeral business and even less about muslim funerals, so all of the above is guess work.
