Attention Tattooed People!

im getting a tattoo for my 21st birthday off my dad and his girlfriend.

I have decided where (body) to have it done: lower back

almost 100% sure on whos doing it: my sisters artist in leeds

and 100% sure what to have done: the demon bartimeus in his gargoyle form by the artist David Wyatt. (see attached image but imagine it without the yellowy backgroud...will just be that on my skin)

now, ive contacted david wyatt for his permission, and he has given me the go ahead and is really flattered but im still only about 92% sure i want it.

i'm not going to get it done until i am 100% sure cos that would be stupid.

im hopefully gonna book the appointment for a mid january so it will b healed and the like for my birthday (fingers crossed)

so i have like just under 2 months to be convinced...
i've been reading peoples experiences online but i thought it may help to hear the experiences of people i know.

i've been asking random tattooed people in the pubs in darlo abuot it all but i want to hear from you lot.

so, how was ur 1st tattoo? have you been back for more? any horror stories? are you scared of needles and still have a tattoo?

it's like a drug, once you have 1, u want more. the pain is temporary - but you're proud of what you've gone thru and the result. infact, the pain justifies it.

I always described the pain as 'just bearable' - if it was any more painful you'd have to tell them to stop - but you know the outcome will be worth it so you sit there, grit your teeth and get on with it. The outline/black is most painful cause it goes the deepest. People who say it doesn't hurt are either dead inside or lying

Plenty of mosituriser and don't pick scabs. - or else u have to go back and have it re-coloured.

i had all 3 of mine designed to exactly what i want - and regret none of them

A friend of mine was. He really wanted a tattoo but hated needles. He worked up the courage and got one anyway, loved it, and got another one soon after.

Unfortunately they're both fucking ugly things.

i presume it will hurt there just got a new one and it goes onto my shoulder a little n knacked, i hate needles to well did at school, just go for it it looks good plus u wont be able 2 c it if you get sick of it

they're not really needles as such... some bizarre mechanical device attached to a car battery that vibrates and buzzes... not nice... and the needle is MASSIVE

hate tattoo's they're sooo common!! just totally slated several people who i love dearly there like lol!! they look good on some people i s'pose but i wud neva eva get one it wud make me look soooo trampish!! xxx

Ive got one on my lower back and it did hurt but the pain was bearable A few places now can offer you EMLA or Ametop cream which you leave on for half an hour and it numbs the area slightly, obviously though they make you pay extra for it

Getting tattooed is no big deal. After a minute or two of initial discomfort, your brain releases natural painkilling endorphins, and it kinda goes numb. this is a pic of mine in an early stage

nah, dont want creams and numbing stuff...cos i tend to be allergic to too much.

i dont do pain very well...very low pain threshold...i need 6 injections just to get a tooth out and faint when i have blood taken...but i think its more the panic than the actaul pain.

My sisters coming with me...really want crasherkid there with me when i get it done cos since we're not having children anymore, id like an excuse to crush his hand

plus he is great for support...but unfortunatly thinks tattoos are gay so he probably wont be coming.

heather i am totally terrified of needles but i have 3 tattoos

u gotta make sure u really like the designs tho before u go getting them done tho, if u even have a slight doubt about the design u want then DONT do it

Even have a look online to see if there is anything that u fall in love with instantly and go for that!!

Its not unbarable the pain it stings dont get me wrong but it stops stinging so much after a while and feels more like a sorta scratching feeling.

Tis the truth, I have 9 tattoos and prep H fixes them up in no time.

I done 6 for my back, stopped for lunch tho

been thinking bout gettin one for ages, across the top of my bk (shoulder to shoulder).
done a few designs aswell but a lot of peeps have told me that it fuckin knacks across ur back. still thinking about it tho.

I'm hard as fuck, I even have tattoos on my feet nah I quite like the feeling. My back was done in three two hour sittings with a half hour breaks inbetween. All on the same day

Its custom work that she designed for me, but the images in it are all ancient traditional polynesian symbols. it goes all the way round my arm now
