Advice I was a naughty boy & was sacked from my last job on the 27th of Oct (which was 2 days after payday) i wasnt sure if i would get another months pay or not then recieved a letter which said in it quote 'you will recieve one months pay in Lieu of notice' unquote: Correct me if im wrong but that means they will pay me a months wage instead of giving me a months notice to leave?? Now the company are saying im getting Jack S**t! Where do i stand with this if the letter says im going to get paid? (and yes i know the moral is dont get sacked but i did )
Depends what your contract states but that basically means they are going to give you a months pay instead of making you work a months notice (which most places do in order to give you time to find another job) What you need to do is keep the original copy but photocopy it and send it to the company as yeah you should receive a months pay .....
Apart from being nebby ( )... It does depend on whatever reason you got the boot - there's normally clauses in contracts not to pay for a notice period if you are sacked for stuff like gross misconduct or monetary fraud etc... So you must have done summinck bad :tut: What was it?
To be fair, if I had done something "naughty" and got sacked from work the last place I'd be posting about it is a public message board.
was just my attendance and i only wanted advice in relation to my pay as there is some clued up people on the board.
Don't expect a reference from them to help you find a new job, I would never hire anyone that had any blotches with time-keeping or sickies.
If they have put it in writing they should honour that. They are probably hoping he is just going to leave it and not bother
how long did you work there???? if they sack you before youve been there 12months you have very little rights tbh. although if they've promised you a months pay in writing then i assume you'd be able to fight and get that pay, even if they say no take it to the civil courts or something. as long as you've got the written proof they should'nt be able to argue too much.
