Egypt Cottage A few friends hired the function room at Egypt Cottage lastnight, i played and i all i have to say is LOL Kam DDX680 decks and a mixer/headphones which didnt work, unusable volume faders which didnt work and a crossfader which when all the way across still allowed sound from the deck which was being cued to come through the main speakers??? not to mention the sloped bench in which the equipment was placed which helped the needle on the left deck to slide/skip and jump every time the record was released, and the speakers which didnt work as well as the highly annoying fading in/out effect the main speakers made when a tune broke down, i could go on forever! Anyone recommend any other Newcastle venues which welcome Dj sets for a private party???

clear is good, they have nice tidy technics and a nice system, but the mixer is a bit gash. Clear is always booked chock-a-block tho
I'd go for Stereo mate - thing is, you can only have tues or weds - I've put a thread about it in 'What's On' which should still be there called 'dilemma re: Stereo' which will outline my problems with it as a venue up to you though - for a one off it's pretty fucking good.
Was that upstairs? Just I'm playing there on thursday and if there ain't no technics then I might have to think about takin me own or kai's... I'm sure when I played there a few years back there were technics there though... but it's changed hands a few times since then I think... Gonna have to speak to the kid doing it and see what the crack is...... Is the system shite too?
they had technics, but they got fucked with people miss using them, the monitors are shit hifi speakers, but the sound system is ok if you set it up right. If you want a good set up, take your own!
