On my adventures through the biggmarket yesterday, there was two big signs next to kfc saying there is a new nightclub opening in the autumn. Its another ultimate leisure..whats everyones view on this...




yes, i didnt have a good night..was a friends b'day and thats where she wanted to go..so had to..wasnt really that bad after 15 vodkas lol..ne way the highlight of the night was mark (godscrasher) dancing drunkingly in idols with his best bud to ..wait for it...wham wake me up...should of seen that arse wiggling lol..

Im sure the new clubs openin at the bottom of Grey St isnt it or is there summit there now already ??? I dunno actually i aint been down that end of the town for ages - if its an "Ultimate Leisure" Club then ya can guarentee Cheddar - for the simple fact that Julies / Boat / Sea / arw all owned by that company - some also sell them Pig n Products that are like 2 for 1 and always cheap rip offs of like "Smirnoff Ice" or "Blue WKD" - no doubt that when it does open like ill get dragged there myself - hopefully there some older richer classier fanny there maybe Fridays then will be a thing of the past @ Promise

its gonna be very cheesy indeed..coz its in a chessy place...with cheesy ppl..with cheesy music..so its gonna be another ikon..well thats what i reckon

the company itself hasn't decided what it's going to be yet, and just to correct you ( sorry to do this ) julie's and the boat are owned by another company. don't get me wrong sea is cheesy, i should know i work there but please don't put it on the same level as julies and the boat! i'd like to have some dignity left!

i heard on the grapevine it may be connected with beach in sunderland (baja) at the end of the day there is only one decent club night in newcastle and that is promise! woop woop

well just yesterday when i saw the signs it was saying,new nightclub opening in autumn.the first nightclub to open on the bigg market for 15 years...and that...so they must of decided..probably just not on the name of it...

On the whole..Sea is an alright nightclub..its a nice layout nice and comfy for chillin,prices r a bit high like.

Ultamite leisure have some nice places like chase.but they also have some total shite like yel. So not sure what to expect i think its gona be a biggin like but itll be very cheesy music i think it will be either like

Baja- as it makes tones of money but its too far away a closer one too the bigg market would make more money.

OR

Liquid- just the same way liqiud is but after hours. itl still play the singy la la trance probably as well and be full of charvas. (be a bit like the old ikon) but a bit more strict.

hmmmmmm not sure bout this one. Because of ultimate leisure everyone will automatically assume it will be a cheesy club!

thing is, the current nightclubs of newcastle cover all markets and aspects of clubbing, right from cheesy baja crap to the charva side of ikon to the better side of promise.

so im just wondering which direction UL will take.

ive a feeling its going to be a themed club - like flares or something, and if not then its gonna have to be a big proper clubbers club like promise and shindig, but maybe concentrate on a specified music style like shindig has.

at the end of the day its gonna have to be something different, cos i cant see it attracting anyone other than the young charvas of the bigg market!!

don't think UL would do anything like ikon or liquid or anything charvaish. i think i will be along the lines of somfin trendy + stylish.

OK, my contacts have given me the following info:

The club is opening in August 2002
Capacity 1300
Should be the first club in the area with a late licence
(apart from foundation of course!)
Music policy is unconfirmed, but its likely to be more Ikon than Foundation, especially since they already own Sea and Chase bar.

More news as soon as I get it...........

Its in the Bigg Market - its going to be turd.

Somehow i think Ultimate Leisure will have done their market research and come up with something like this. Bigg Market = full of charvs = make it cheese / commercial dance = successful club.

Corperate Nightclubs should be avoided like the plague - the nastiest things going

it will be shit!!! nuff said!

One problem with that - almost all large clubs are Corporate, certainly in Newcastle. Not many independents can afford to build one or convert somewhere as the initial outlay is huge.

I see your point its a coperate world we live in, but large clubs arent always best - give me a dingy sweatbox any day

i think if they have the right music and the dj's it could attract us, even if the location is shit. but avoid it for the first few months while the excitement of the charvs havin a club on their patch wears off.

the man who owns ulitimate leisure lives on the street opposite me, his house is a mansion. the sad thing is his 18yre old son just died in a car crash.
