    NHS Anti-Smoking Campaign

    Another campaign eh!

The thing is, their slogan is daft:

"you don't have to breathe other peoples smoke"

This is only true IF you wish to remain inside your house and take trips to the countryside for the rest of your life

I wish something would be done about it though, especially recently, theres too many people smoking because they see it as a cool addition to their shit haircuts and naff dress sense :(

Hopefully within a few years some proper laws will be in place...if people want to damage their own health, fair enough...I don't want mine damaged as a result though

Alas, until then, I have no choice but to continue as I am  :(

surely the slogan is meant to encourage people to ask others to stop smoking in their presence, not to make non smokers leave smoky areas?

    edit: agree tho :)

    Re: NHS Anti-Smoking Campaign

Look, at the end of the day people are not just going to stop smoking just because others are moaning about it. Some people smoke to make a statement...most of them want to quit but find it hard through addiction!!

Personally, i dont have a problem with others smoking - like you say its their health not mine...

Most people I know who smoke respect me enough for them to either move out the room/open a window etc

No problem in my opinion - more important thinks to worry about !

But when you are in a bar/club, it IS your health!!

And to be fair, the risk of getting cancer is quite an important thing to worry about at the end of the day.

if people are allowed to smoke anywhere - they will. go elsewhere if you don't like the rules of the establishment.

Its a good idea with all these campaigns but unless laws are brought in then they aren't going to make tha much difference tbh

If somebody wants to smoke they will and no matter how much u might ask them to move or stop they dont have to so probably wont.

I decided to try and quit today...mainly cos im skint. I feel rubbish already tho:(

it's quite good at work these days cos we now have a no smoking at the bar policy...so i dont have to breathe in all the inconsiderate peoples smoke anymore, which is cool cos so many people dont even think/give a shit and just hold a tab virtually in ur face when u are serving them.

the air is actually more polluted in newcastle, far more so than teesside according to the latest goverment statistics.

what most people don't actually realise is, that despite the fact the teesside skyline is dominated by vast monolithic chemical works, they are all highly modernised and actually don't release anything into the atmosphere other than water vapour. which is often mistaken as 'smog' by those who know no better. ;)
