    S.A.D. - Seasonal Affective Disorder

    Anyone else got this?

Essentially its mild(ish) depression and/or physical effect caused by the days getting darker during the winter months of the year. Waking up in the morning and it being pitch black,... Getting home from work and it being pitch black .... gets some people down, especially so if your a 'typical' 9-5 worker.

I wouldnt say i had it as bad as alot of people but ive noticed how much less bothered i can be about getting up in the morning now that its dark when my alarm goes off. Feel more sluggish during the day aswell.

    Anyone else?

funnily enough - I was discussing this the other day - I definitely get it...as a rule, I can't be bothereed to get up at sparrow fart anyway, just to go to work - but when it's dark, it's twice as hard....just wait until it's freezing cold too! That'll learn ya!

another reason for southern puffs to whinge. like yuppie flu.

stop paying really high council tax and being charged for driving into town - then you'll be fine! :D

used to have a mate who suffered really bad from this had a special light he used to sit in front of each night for about an hr to try make him feel a little better think most folk suffer from it slightly but it can just effect a small percentage a lot more

    its getting to me now..

in the back of my head i'm often thinking about it from march onwards how 'mint' it'll be when we hit june/july when its still sunny at 9:30. of course its never 'all that', but cold weather and darkness just generally gets me down.. and its amazing how much difference there was in the weather temperature wise about 3/4 weeks ago - don't you reckon?

late august the nights suddenly start drawing in - fast.

innit.. thinking about it it's only affected me the past 2 years. before that i couldn't care less. these days i always look forward to summer and in my head i make it out to be better than it actually is. when it's here i take it for granted then suddenly it's autumn.

January/February are the worst for me, because christmas and my birthday (2nd jan, 1 week after christmas) are both over and it's still shit weather. snow cheers me up a bit..

that's the thing.. i can't just tell myself to do that i need a way of doing it? things i first see/hear (even dream about) can affect my mood most of the day. no one else notices it, but it's there in my head. even how i'm actually woken up affects me.. any (serious) tips?

Cant really give any tips but i hate getting up on a morning and going to work.....i could stay in bed be sad/depressed and not go to work meaning id get the sack.

But i get up even though i dont want to, do what i have to do and go to work, then even thought its gonna be dark when i finished at least im finished and going home.....

I know its a bit of a bitch to do this 5 days a week, but at the end of the day i have to, if i dont and let it bother me then it means that i cant do everything that i wanna do, ie go out drinking go see mates buy things you want and all the funner stuff you do in ur spare time.

Fair enough its not nice, but it happens, just gotta look at the positives of what you get out of getting up going to work and not let the crapper things in life bother you.

Why not try getting one of them timer switches for your bedroom light? fair enough its not light outside but at least if u put it to go on at say 6-7 am, then it will be light when you wake up.....
