Lee Burridge is one of the most talented dj's to ever appear at Promise. If you think he's 'horse' then I'd like to hear who's talented in your opinion.

I saw Nick Sentience at Mainframe on Saturday - he was playing floaty trance! I was absolutely gutted as I have wanted to see him for about 3 years, and love his Nukleuz purple stuff. He was on at 7 in the evening though, so may have toned it down accordingly. Having said that, there were three tents all playing quite light trance (in my opinion) until about 11. I was hoping at least one of them would have been harder earlier on.

Agree. I'd like to see some hard stuff, espescially some techno DJs for a change, but no hard house. It's not hard and it's not melodic, it's just 'noise'.

Charvas tend to love it as well, the sort of people that listen to Public Domain would swarm to Foundation.

alot of hard house is melodic...how can someone who likes techno like yourself moan about hard house not bein melodic and bein only 'noise'? i would say 'techno' fits this description more than hard house, although i agree that some of it is just borin 'noise'.

the tidy boys would work at promise i think...their last set at sundiss comprised mainly of hard trance as have most of thier sets lately and they sounded no more 'hard house' than what rob tissera and eddie did at promise.

I think there are too many people which totally dismiss a DJ's skill just because they dont like what they play.
If you dont happen to like a DJ's style, yet this DJ is very skilled, I think people should keep an open mind and not talk about how wank a skilled DJ is, they have earned their name through their skill and it shouldn't go unnoticed and unappreciated.

i can appreciate the fact that djs are technically very skillfull, but if i cant stand the music they play, i wont pay 2 c them.

Please try to take what I say in it's whole context...

I said it's not hard and it's not melodic. Techno isn't melodic but it is hard; that's the difference. Please bare in mind, though, that there are a great number of styles of techno. For the purposes of debate, I'll assume you mean the harder edge of techno.

Can you name some hard house tunes with a melody? They are few and far between.

I would say that most hard house tunes have some kind of melody. I read ages ago that different people hear music differently (which is why when someone else sings a tune you know, it can sound awful even if they are in tune). Therefore I guess what sounds melodic to one person doesn't to someone else.

Each to their own! I would hate it if everyone liked the same kind of music, it would be really boring and we couldn't all be music snobs.
