Britain is expected to be hit by freezing temperatures and heavy snowfalls next week, prompting fears of a repeat of last winter's travel chaos.

Arctic conditions will sweep down from the north on Sunday with snow flurries forecast in parts of southern England and Wales by the middle of next week, the Met Office said on Thursday.

"It is going to be bitterly, bitterly cold," a spokeswoman said.

Temperatures will fall to minus seven and eight Celsius. But with icy blasts, the wind chill factor could make it feel more like minus 14 in the north.

"Travelling will be pretty hazardous," she said.

It's cold enough up those mountains in the Summer believe me!

Oh and I think the cold weather might be my fault...I took the week off work. I managed to take 2 weeks off work back in August when it decided to fall in temperature and piss it down. Then the heat-wave returned when I went back to work.

tell me about it.....he's well happy now...he was getting grumpy earlier this week when the weather was warm (which is bad) but now the weathers going to get nasty, (which is better really) he thinks it's great cos he can get use out of his winter climbing mitts!!!
