    other nights

Hi, I have been up at newcastle at uni for a year now, and have been to promise quite a few times now, as well as most of the mainstream clubs that do student nights mid week (ikon, sea, baja, blue bambu etc). These clubs are ok mid week for student piss ups, but what I realy want is music like I get at promise. Last year this was fine because I just went to promise on the friday, but now promise is monthly, I was wondering if you guys could tell me about any other nights with similar music in newcastle, and let me know about other generally good clubs that aren't as well publicised to students, which i might not know about. Also any suggestions for good pubs/ bars that are less well known would be appreciated.
    Cheers

have a look at the what's on forum for smaller nights.

    other than that, go to

    foundation
    stereo
    EC

and you will find a decent selection of nights. :)

cheers for the response, I have been to the obvious ones like blue bambu, the boat, and foundation before, and I know where stereo is (but I haven't actually been), is it a club or just a bar? also, what and where is Egypt cottage, and finally where abouts is goodgreef in newcastle? I thought it was in manchester, do they have a regular night up here or something?

Quality is a hard house night.

    stereo is a bar.

goodgreef is held at tall trees, yarm (bigggest club in the UK fact fans :p ).

egypt cottage is just along from stereo, another bar which does promise's official warm up. it's right next door to the tyne tees television studios.

    anything else? :p

Thanks again guys, I will give those places a try asap, the hard bit will be trying to get my mates to try some new places, they are quite stuck in their ways of just going to jesmond bars, the student union, some city centre bars, Ikon, Blu bambu, and sea. We used to go to promise quite a lot, but not so much this year, how come it is monthly now instead of weekly?
Thanks again for the advice and the welcome.

If you can stomach going to Sunderland then try the new Hangar 13. You can get straight to it on the Metro. It's on every month. I'm a student at Newcastle uni and never get any bother. Incidently, if you go to Newcastle uni, I will be flyering for Promise on Monday just where the Barclays bank machines are. Take a flyer or two if asked please ;)
