The tune that gets me on the dance floor has to be, Jurassic 5 Action Satisfaction, it aint no trance but I like it.

If I had to choose a tune thats all thump, thump, thump, then it would have to be The KLF 3am eternal!

    Yip - pretty special :)

But if I'm listening to old school style beats I'd rather listen to the real thing  Grandmaster Flash n co - The Trurth, Run DMC - Runs House, Big Daddy Kane - Enter the Dragon, Gangstarr - Jazz thing (radio mix), etc.

But my personal choice of hip hop music (outside of the pharcyde) is our homegrown stuff (http://www.audiogalaxy.com/list/song.php?&g=5210012 for example :D), its in another league it just sounds tough:

    New stuff by:

    Skinnyman
    Roots Manuva (http://www.expandedbandwidth.com/skitz_roots-where_my_mind_is_at.ram)
    Braintax
    Riddla
    Ty
    Phi-Life cypher
    Taskforce
    Rodney P
    Tricky
    Black Twang
    Any Skitz production

    old stuff by:

London Posse (The greatest ever british hip hop act, far better than america's equivelant NWA - these were the fucking shit :D http://www.expandedbandwidth.com/london_posse-london_posse.ram <-- best tim westwood production ever!)
Guttersnypes (Primecuts before he became a pervert - sheer brilliance http://www.expandedbandwidth.com/guttersnypes-judge_me_not.ram)
    Blade
    Gunshot
    Lewis Parker
Breaking the illusion (for pure try hard ability and wicked leeds accent (best thing to come form leeds since nightmares on wax :D ))
Hijack (Batman was one fo the coolest british tunes of all time)
Krispy (his new albnum was shite but his old stuff sounded so wicked :D)
    Faze 1
Slick Rick (he's british even if he lives in america)
    Nightmares on Wax
Micron (for novelty value  looky what I found! http://www.expandedbandwidth.com/micron-eastenders.ram)

Just bought some new vinyl this weekend, amongst the selection is a promo of an LP due out in July (don't know the name) But its got a collabaration between The Pharcyde and J5!:D Quite possibly the best tune I've ever heard. I also picked up Black Twangs new album (best british release this year!)
Do you know of a local DJ called Smoove? He's signed to Acid jazz, he plays at Nice Bar, he's got an album coming out at the end of they year, from what I've heard of it it's shit hot! Check him out if you get the chance.;)

You don't like guttersnypes? The beats prime cuts used to make were so fecking good, they were the highlight of all guttersnypes productions - Cel 1 was an ok MC... But Forget me not is one of my all time fav hip hop tunes  ah well each to their own and all that

Never heard sewerfunk so I'll deffo check them out - cheers :D , got 3 of rae and christians cd's, they don't do nothing for me - good producers and all that - but theres a million producers just like them - I can't really listen to instrumentals like most hip hop fanatics.. I prefer lyrics and they mainly collaborate with US MC's (although the pharcyde are amazing :D) I prefer the sound of british MC's like Rodney P, Skinnyman, Black Twang, Tricky, etc. Just personal choice innit :D

Its the energy you get when you hear a real rough sounding cockney smackhead freestyling in some dark dirty london club :D it has a quality to it american MC's can't have :D

I used to listen to smoove years ago when he done the backroom of bulletproof (is bulletproof still going now rockshots is gone?)... did you used to go to back 2 school? is that still going?

Bulletproof is still going, but its now a mod/60's night with no back room. Its at the Playrooms on a friday night. Back 2 school?
Sewerfunk are a local band (big things will come).
So do you still go to hip hop clubs or is that all in the past?
If your into lyrics rather than tunes, what do you think about the Fu-schnikens, if you've heard of them?

lol fu schnickens are wikkid mate - wouldn't of picked em out for their lyrics - cos you can't understand a word they say ;) they always remind me of pharcyde and cypres hill but speeded up :D

Back 2 School was an open mic/bboy night at the black swan ran by matt and co. Guess its not on no more...

I'll deffo check sewerfunk.. I aint been into the local scene in ages, I aint been ionto the british scene in ages  it used to be my thang though :D aint been to a hip hop club since last year  I only go to them when I'm down london now - I never travel anymore....

I think a trip to london is in store soon though :D

Hard House? What you on? It's hip hop all the way!
*makes mental note (persuade everyone into turning Promise into a hip hop club)*
*makes second mental note (shit that'll never happen)*
