    Film stars going into politics

Do you agree with it? They have the money, they have the influence, isnt that what politics shouldn't be about.

Im sick of seeing Arnie and his election campaign stories on the news.

I saw the bit were he was apologising at 1 of his rallies for assaulting those women in the past, he's blatently apologising now so there wont be any dirt on him once he's elected, thats all. he wouldn't have said sorry otherwise.

All his fans were cheering him on, yeah ok cheer on a sex pest and vote him into office.

The public think these celebrities are whiter than white and can connect with them because they watch their films but they dont really know the real them.

I read the National Enquirer, I know what they're like

better the devil you know, i suppose the old saying goes... celebrities background dirt is spread across the media much more than politicians, you have much more insight into the life if them. in general, i don't see why they can't enter the political forum but individual cases have to be taken on their own merit. arnie's trying to cover his back - but what he's has done is pretty unexcusable, not exactly a 'one off' but a repeat offender.

Why should it matter what their previous occupation is??

Its not like you'd post a thread saying 'what do you think of Company Directors who become politicians' is it?

Would this really matter though if he was good in Office and made Calefornia a better place for it's residents?

    I'm sorry it does matter.

Celebrities use their huge populairty to win seats... Very few celebrities are eudcated politicians... Do we really need attention seeking politicians in power.

Tony Blair is a classic case of why egotistical pricks shouldn't get in to power, since a child he wanted to be in the lime light from drama to music he's tried getting into celebdom via every known methods... Politics finally paid off and now we have an incredibly egotistical prick in power... He's more concerned about ebing seen as a great leader, going down in the history books, etc. than sound policy.

Politics should be left to politicians.

    Not house hold names.

If Joe Bloggs became a politician the press would be far less likely to have loads of dirt on them about their past. At least with celebs the public know alot more about the person concerned so it s not as great a shock when they fuck up :D

So because the dirt is often dished out about celebrities by the media making it everybodies business, they can be forgiven for what theyve done?

Just because we hear about it, we're suppose to say its ok we forgive you, but for everybody else who keep their business their business, its a different story and we look at them differently?

so it's ok to molest women is it? what kind of message is that sending out?

don't get me wrong, i like arnie, i see no problem with anyone going into politics if they can do the job - but he's acting like by saying sorry - it's all ok. i'm suprised he didn't shout "i'll be back" to make all the journalists go "awww, ain't he cute!"

    Molesting women.... lol

I remember watching the big breakfast when he was on with Denise and i thought he was a right horny slime that day too, and ive heard alot of things about him doing similar or worse with other women...

    BUT.......

WHO CARES... just cause arnie used his male dominance over women in a few situations, doesnt mean he isnt fit to be in politics. I'd like to see him in office actually - he seems like he could bring something good to the table.

Ironically - Ive lost count of how many politicians have pasts like thats, it comes with the territory. Heck, at least he's the one doing the groping - as opposed to being tied up, apple in mouth, and beaten black and blue by a dominatrix... UK Politician style.

Joe, Shaun, Phill > Aren’t you lot jumping the gun a bit - he has not actually been convicted of anything - there just rumours - nothing's been proved. These types of accusations have been murmured for years - nothing proved though - if he really "molested" countless women I'm sure there would have been lay suits brought against him etc. Even his wife says he is a right flirt etc.

Of course if he HAS actually assaulted women then this should not be forgiven and he should pay for his crimes.

He may well be shite in the role - but should he not be givin the chance to TRY and make a difference?

I'm sure he will have a good team of advisors around him to try and not let him fuck it up.

voters care. women voters probably. 50% of the population. people will think is he really interested in what i've got to say or is he thinking "i'd like to feel her boobies"

i too think arnie would bring a lot to the table, he's a very tough character with a lot to say - and apparently after watching a documentary on his - very ambitious but it doesn't give u a good start on trusting him...

They're not rumours though, He's freely admitted to these things publicly, isnt that enough proof?

Why admit to things you havent done otherwise

I dont think he's geniunely sorry at all, he knows all too well how the media works and he knows it would be bad on his political career if he didnt come clean before others did it for him.

He's trying to save his own skin rather than be sorry for what he;s done.

That's how it comes across to me when I watch the news.
