All them buttons, they better bring their own mixer at least they should have fathomed out how that works
OK so us bedroom dj's are not always 100% in the brains department. BUT, you must know how fuckin scary it is the first time you ever dj infront of a lot of people?
No offence taken! Those jitters seem to always happen at the first few tunes and then once you have warmed up, you are away!
Levels... Never mind bedroom DJ's, I know a vast majority of DJ's who don't understand that a red light, on a channels level, indicates that it is clipping, effectively distorting the sound and compressing the headroom. Red = stop. Did your mothers never tell you to stop at red lights?
My first night as a light jockey, I watched one of the local DJs do this to a PMC 55 Mixer (same one as the one in foundation). And just like above, this guy was jumping back and forth and riving so hard on the fader that the mixer was moving backwards and forwards... ... Don't take a genius to work out that he trashed the fader... and the crossfader... and another fader... tit. From what I've heard, this particular mixer hasn't worked properly since. As far as bedroom djs go - it's all fine and good to play to yourself, but you're only ever going to better yourself if you get out and start playing live venues... It's the only way you'll learn how to play to a crowd
