Are we really that bad abroad?

I was watching Kilroy this morning and they were talking about british tourists abroad and how they act.

They talked about Faliraki mainly and about those club reps who got arrested enciting binge drinking and bar crawls, as well as the girl who got arrested for getting her tits out in a bar.

Now, are the club reps really to blame? Should they have got arrested? As I see it, people will go out and have a good time if they're on an organised bar crawl or not. I would say they're safer with reps there who know the bars, who know the area, who know the people, rather than going on your own.

They had Greek people on the show saying that the british have 'invaded' the island. But as much as they're complaining, they're not complaining when they're taking the money off the tourists when they go in the bars, which I bet are mostly greek owned and run. They're the ones taking advantage getting people off their heads and taking the money.

    It wasn't me, I haven't been abroad!

I heard something on that program this morning about security guards/police erasing everyone's video tapes and cam corders probably because of dodgy goings on with the law.

In ibiza if people get caught with drugs they just beat the shit out of them, they don't usually arrest them.

yeh, brits abroad are fucking terrible. the majority of young people who go on holiday have the view that they're going on a two week bender and are gonna trash the place they're at as much as possible.
    guilty ;)

I detest that type of holiday and holiday goer but that's not to say I agree with how they are being treated.

The holiday companies gear these holidays towards the beer, cocktail and tits out style holiday maker and they are fully responsible for the problems.

They make there money from marketing there holidays towards young people looking for 2 weeks of alcohol and sex which inevatibly results in violence.

Club 18-30, Escapades, Freestyle etc should be banned !!!

The attitude that we have socially and politically to other countries is shocking.

It is disgusting to think that as a nation, we feel we have the right to decend on another country, and act like animals.

All of the people who died of drug abuse this year in other countries, im sorry, deserved it.

And the people who were locked up for breaking Greek laws, should have been forced to serve the full stretch of their sentence.

A hard lesson is what we need - the way we conduct ourselves abroad is embarrasing.

Good points, well made. Not sure why you say the people who died of drug abuse abroad deserved it tho?

im sorry but if they wanna come to england for the benefits that we have ie NHS etc, thats the least we can do to their "unbearable" country.

what i mean is that some not all make up some cock and bull story about getting death threats in the country they live in (yes greece as well) so that they may seek assylum over in great britain where many of these unskilled people can reap the benefits from out pockets. this is something that pisses me off greatly and unfortunatly I can see no harm in us Brits giong over there to enjoy a holiday and going as wild as we would here. Fair enough you do get the odd few who make an arse of themselves however, they are magnified to the whole of GB. I mean how many of us holiday on the Greek Islands? 1000's and 1000's of us.

dya see what i mean now ?

I think ur talking about immigrants who are here to seek asylum from countries in a state of political unrest...not the locals of faliraki etc who have lived there all their lives and are slowly watching their homes be destroyed by english beerboy neanderthals

This gets my vote for worst post of the year.

Ironically it also proves my point.

Sadly she's probably right.. As time goes by, we know more and more about Kylie minogues arse and the last time posh spice broke wind - than we do about the real world.

U know that if a laws just been passed telling u not to get ur tits out and the police are dead strict about it then you shouldnt get your tits out.

The blame for that sort of thing could go to the reps tho: it should be their 'duty' to inform at the start of the holiday about staying safe and not breaking the law...rather than encouraging it.

The duty of club reps is to make as much comission as possible selling their stupid nights out - and to get away with doing as little as possible.

If i was in their job having to deal with the likes of us acting like total morons, i could care less too.

Ayia Napa did the right thing - they cleared that entire place up in less than a year i heard.

Thats true, but maybe companies should start changing their policies in order to make holidays better and safer for people. If they dont they will ultimately be the ones losing money as no one will book holidays with certain tour operators when the reps are rubbish and completely unhelpful

Unfortunately a company wont do sod all until it hits their bottom line.

At the moment, theres a huge incentive to get away with doing as little as possible - In this country at least we are so obsessed with getting dirt cheap holidays - "150 quid for a fortnight in ibiza" that most of the young rabble that pay for that, will put up with crap reps and a cruddy holiday.

Company responsibility is an illusion - the only thing that forces them to do things is enforcing laws.

Faliraki, a victim of its own success imo!

Im not making excuses for the way the brits go over there and take the fucking piss, but if the authories hadn't turned a blind eye for so long, it wouldn't be the resort it is today.

You can't have the money rolling in, THEN moan about it.
