Tiesto's set last Thursday in Amnesia. ...........was outstanding. He played loads of new stuff .inc. some hard electro. in fact most of his set was electro sounding with the old hum/fizz sound of trance definitly out of favour at the moment. He also played Sunset in Ibiza.........! One of my best nights out ever......

where did i agree with u? my point was he plays less trance than anything in his sets, and always has done. he normally plays prog, techno, and any trance on ITWT or blackhole....so he isnt following any fashions....
Re: Re: Re: Tiesto's set last Thursday in Amnesia. misread that... just noticed the comma I know dj's need to be supple and move with the times but I find tiesto a joke.... trance is big - he plays big trance sets.... techno is big he starts playing a lot fo techno in his sets.... eletcro is big and he starts playing electro... That strikes me as someone who's on the band wagon trail...
Like i said, hes always played loads of styles in his sets....his essential mix back in 2001 being a good example. He plays techno in that, dave clarke, frank biazzi etc...when techno wasnt so cool.... but whatever he plays, he always sounds like tiesto, and its always amazing. Can't wait for 24th august....!
he's always played a bit of techno but only used to play the premium cuts i.e. coatnoise, la roc 01 , but as it became more popular he did seem to play more of it, but cant really blame him for that, although i wuld have loved it if he had stuck to his guns a bit more and helped our beloved trance out in its hour of need!am sure he'll be back though!
Tiesto started life as a pure Techno DJ so hes hardly sold out. Anyway. Nobody makes trance anymore so how can he play it? Whats the guy to do? retire?
i think tiesto does floow trends to a bit but always keep in the trance genre. in 99/00 he was a pumping trance dj, in 01 he certainly had taken to progessive sounds, now he's taken a techier feel. he said in an interview on black-hole.nl that he see trance music getting hard and wanted to keep with the times. i think he's got a better "harder" sound now than he did say a year ago., obviously as he plays a certain sound more he is gonna develop that style to suit himself.

Tiesto may well have altered his sound slightly in order to continue pleasing crowds, but when he drops tunes like Brainbug - Nightmare @ GKGG then you know that he is one of the best crowd pleasers in the world.
