Some nice words from 'THE JUDGE'

Friday's itinerary contained as long a road-trip as I'd do without being certified clinically insane. London- Carlisle- Newcastle- London, nearly 700 miles. Well actually, I tell a
lie. I flew from London to Manchester and met with driver Pete who'd driven up earlier, to avoid the Friday night Birmingham bottleneck. Never having been to Carlisle before, we arrived fifteen minutes late- it transpires it would have been far quicker to fly to Newcastle which is half the distance of Manchester airport. The gig was busy
and the venue low-ceilinged, with the crowd inches away... my favourite sort of club!

Two friends from Newcastle had joined us for the journey from Carlisle back to their hometown. They knew themeandering route from the East to West Coast every inch of the way, identifying hidden speed cameras and possible traffic police look-out points with unerring accuracy.
Without their help we might have been slightly late to Promise in Newcastle. As it turned out, we arrived just as I was due on the decks. Promise is brilliant- I won't waste words describing it any other way. The North East crowd is
famous for passion and being vocal- their football grounds put others to shame in terms of atmosphere. I think the only reason I play Promise a mere two times a year is Newcastle's distance from London, nearly 300 miles. Because of my Saturday radio show I'm forced to drive
straight home, and we didn't arrive outside my front door in London til 8am.

Top man is the Judge.

liking his opinions about the club, still not a big fan though, not putting him down or anything!

I don't think he's the best dj in the world but he has helped the scene alot over the years, i have seen him play some class sets over the years though

hes on at blackpool tomorow when im there, not to keen on him at all really but the club he's playing at(Syndicate) is brilliant (not promise tho )

I am sure Mark would have been more than willing to pay, I mean Promise has paid a lot of money out of the years to fly in a lot Euro trash. Why not pay for a domestic flight for 1 of the biggest names in dance music?

if i'm totally honest the last time he was at promise the last hour he played was fucking gash, thats the only time ive ever left promise early...
but apart from that he's always entertained, everyone's allowed an off night!

I wasn't there that night. Robbo got knocked back for being "off his face" (which was odd considering he'd only had a couple of pints). So we ended up just going back to Jeff's. He was excellent when he played this time last year.

like i said, the other time's he's been good! i heard conflicting reports about him at r&b3, some mates said he was totally gash and others said he was tops :$

The Judge is a really nice guy. met him at Promise the other week and then last Sunday at Eden, really spot on lad. I think he will play more than twice at Promise this year now though.

fuck sake, im gonna defend him again....

we hear the same thing over and over and over...this argument never stops... judge this, judge that, when he plays promise...

at the end of the day he should be massively respected and definitely not put down after all the great comments he makes about promise... hes an entertainer, fills a club, and gets paid shitloads of money for it....why? cos he deserves it and hes got to be good at it!!!! at the end of the day if we werent all stuck in our little dj culture world of listening out for every shit mix he does instead of enjoying the music then i think these comments wouldnt be made!!! clubbing is about enjoying yerself not trainspotting every tune he plays or mix he does!! and if you dont enjoy his tune selection then bloody hell broaden yer aspect on yer music interests... plus the judge always brings the right atmosphere to a night.

so leave the bloke alone...cos your only bloody jealous!!!

oh and yes spence, im tellin it how it is again mate!!! im just fed up of the bickering against the bloke...

i think you posted this thread to show the judge respects us lot up here in the north and hopefully get some good responses.....but from the replies nowt but lil spots of negativity and no respect in return. unfair in my eyes.
