DJs with computers (and decent soundcards) read on...

I have just discovered a wonderful bit of kit for mixing tunes its called Traktor (ooh-arr), yes I know the name sounds a little rural but trust me I have been looking for a system that mixes MP3's with a decent cue facility (the ability to hear a song before you mix it in) for ages.

I came across it by chance when looking for native instrument (the manufacturer) plug ins. There are plenty of little helpful bits and bobs:

BPM counter, up to +35 pitch control (for the mixes you REALLY have to get in), 3 band eq with kill switches, external filter on top of the mixed track (to filter a tune in as opposed to straight cross fading) and an ability to save mixes so they kind of mix themselves (?)...

I have only just started messing about with it, but I can say its the best computer based mixing system (apart from the fairly expensive Stanton Final Scratch system) around.

The demo lasts for an hour and is available at:

    http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?traktor_us

I managed to aquire a full copy through the usual routes, but as this is a public forum I can't say where from - for those in the know you should be able to find a copy yourselves with no probs.

As Neil from Art-Attack would say "try it yourself".

Traktor is fantastic, the best imo and I've tried nearly all mixing software!! But I'd say go out and buy it, it's only £20 or somthing and once you've bought u get free upgrades etc and you are supporting great software that isn't trying to rip us off unlike the big boys (microsoft etc).

BTW what you were saying about it being the best appart from staton final scratch, well it actually is the basis of final scratch, FS is just a version of traktor excpet you control it using time code records rather than your computer mouse!
