Quickest way from Newcastle to Edinburgh?

Is it to follow the speed camera ridden A1? or is there a quicker way?

If ur driving then imo fastest way is the A1. The speed cameras are all obviois and most of them are even painted pretty colours so u can see them.
There is another way which goes the back windy roads which has no cameras and is so much fun in a car (it has lotsa bumps that if done at speed make ur stomach disapear:):) ) but if u get stuck behind a tractor or combine then ur fooked!!

    U choose.

P.s. Train is quicker and costs cheaper if ur driving that cavalier of yours but u gota lug ur "ken sized" backpack around and u dont get the luxury or cruising with windows down and "choons" blaring:rolleyes: :p

a696 is by far the quickest... but if you dont know the road it'll take longer..theres no cameras etc so you can nail it but its all windy narrow roads..
