I didn't say you were patronising me! I said my intention was not to patronise you (re-read my post)!

I bet even George Bush doesn't actually believe that the rest of the world will just stand by and let the US strip Iraq of its natural resources.

Regardless of whether or not we SHOULD have liberated iraq (if thats what you can call a looting/anarchy driven situation right now) - the fact of the matter is that

    A) We broke the UN treaties that WE set up to go to war with Saddamn hussain

    B) We managed to convince people about A) by saying we would find WMD which we havent actually found at all.

And now the USA is threatening IRAN and then in the future theres North Korea.... its bullshit.

The problem is when people create laws to restrict other people - but then they decide they arent bound by those laws in the slightest, America is allowed as many nuclear weapons as it pleases, but other countries arent allowed them??!?! - bullshit!

Maybe it would take having our own families being killed in a terrorist bomb before it hits home that our countries and their allies meddling in international affairs come back to haunt us.

No doubt these countries that we go after are full of troublemakers - but the way we are going about this is wrong

They don't have to as long as the oil leaves Iraq, America are happy.

After Saudi Arabia, Iraq has the largest oil reserves in the world, yet America is the biggest oil consumer (who's resevres a mere 5% of the worlds are tiny and rapidly running out). As we draw nearer and nearer to a golobal oil shortage (they predict in 3 years we'll see a noticable rise in prices and within 15 years luxuries like cheap package holidays may not be that accessable) america need to do something.

Saudi Arabia control middlern eastern oil production (they are the largest producers) and supply america with the majority of their oil - however the stable relations that existed pre-911 no longer exist as eastern/western relations deminish, America need a secure and stable supply of oil, as UN had imposed sanctions on Iraq (which is why they wanted rid of the Sadam Regime), with American reserves so low and with Saudi/US relations worsening a secure source of oil was needed for the american economy.

Now Iraq has been invaded and the Sadam Regime removed, it doesn't much matter who gets the oil rights, be it France and Russia like before, Britain, Estonia or America - as long as there is oil leaving the middle east, the yanks are happy.

However they would prefer control - but thats stating the obvious :D

True they have'nt found anything yet but i'm pretty sure they will IMO. What i find scary is the fact that we went against NATO, which basically says we don't need you and your help!!!!

So what will happen in years to come, when we don't agree on something again will we just go our own way:spangled: and do what we think is right!!

it is impossible to know what is fact or fiction.
whatever info about the whole situation has reached us will have soooo much spin on it, that there is no point believing it...
thats why i cant be arsed to read of war related stuff, or form an opinion...
if any1 thinks they know the facts, they are very wrong. as if the governments would let the public know any real facts about whats going on...!
the only person who really knows the score is bush....

We would have been better off spending the money that was spent on the war on investing in renewable generation and fuel cell technologies. It's the only way forward!

Yes. Oil is the most valuable resource in the world, America is the worlds largest consumer of it. Makes sense I think.

The worrying thing I feel is that by going against the UN and doing the whole 'vigilante policemen of the world thing' Britain and America have not only damaged future relations with the West but with the rest of Europe, not good crack.

This war was definately about oil IMO, there are far more dangerous and repressed nations than Iraq and (as of yet) they still remain untouched by the Western World to thrive in thier brutality. North Korea anyone?

Yes, but I would still say thier citizens are being ruled by one of the most evil regimes in the world regardless of how many weapons of mass destruction they have. Cant see anyone rushing to 'liberate' them though, wonder why??

I think its more to do with the fact they have nothing valuable, like oil for example...
