STATIC @ Clear...different drums After the pressure parties I have been putting on I have decided to make it a bit bigger. I will be hosting events @ Clear just round the corner from revolution. The music policy is mainly progressive tribal and tech house, seems to be a bit of a shortage of this sound mid week. I will be having guests covering most genres of music, I have booked Gary Dickinson who plays @ shine and the front page in Belfast. There will also be a bit of D&B from a few local talents. Residents John Mack....tribal/tech house Aspin....tech house/ funky techno Paul Andrews....funky house/melodic trance Drew Ormond....minimal techno Guests Gary Dickinson.....shine & front page Belfast Juss....Elements of Noize TBC I am also looking to showcase local talent, anyone wishing to submit a demo cd/md please PM me for the address. Dates and times TBC but I will keep you posted. If you are up for something a little different would be great to see you there, perfect warm up for the weekend for the househeads. Ladies and gents one of Statics first supporters, Cheers Roni. One of the big boys of the NI music scene, his production work is outstanding and DJ sets apparently out of this world. chunky funky tech house, just the way it should be. keep your eyes peeled for his releases on Shine recordings. top man
‘Funktion’ is the recording moniker for Northern Irish Djs and producers Barry McCullough and Ronan Hughes. Ronan can be found tucked away in Newry where he owns and runs local record store, Axis. Barry is Belfast based and amongst other things writes dance music reviews for a couple of popular Irish based publications. Although relatively new to the music production scene, Funktion have gained firm nods of approval from a bevy of dance luminaries across the globe for their debut release ‘Seduction’. Apart from Deep Dish and Steve Lawler making offers to sign Seduction for their well respected labels, key plays were secured on Seb Fontaine’s Radio One show, and it has been licensed to no less than four mix CD’s to date. On the strengths of the above track, Funktion were commissioned by Deep Dish to remix Whatever Girl - Activator for their legendary Yoshitoshi imprint. Activator has been scheduled for a Spring 2003 release. ‘Need To Know’, Funktion’s follow up track to Seduction, has been signed to Belfast based label Shine Recordings and features a superb remix courtesy of the ubiquitous Tony Thomas to complete the package. Due for a May 2003 release, Need To Know seems to be doing the business for the chosen few tastemakers already. Louis Osbourne has just licensed the track for his forthcoming mix compilation for Blue Chip Recordings, New York. All shades of House, Tribal, melodic Techno and scatterings of Breaks make up the Funktion play list. 2003 is set to be a busy year for the guys studio and DJ wise.
