TEN REASONS IT'S GREAT TO BE FRENCH:
    1. When speaking fast you can make yourself sound gay.
    2. Experienced the joy of winning the world cup for the first time after
    drugging the opposition
    3. You get to eat insect food like snails and frog's legs.
    4. If there's a war you can surrender really early.
    5. You don't have to read the subtitles on those late night films on Channel
    4.
    6. You can test your own nuclear weapons in other people's countries.
    7. You can be ugly and still become a famous film star.
    8. Allow Germans to march up and down your most famous street humiliating
    your sense of national pride.
    9. You don't have to bother with toilets, just go in the street.
    10. People think you're a great lover even when you're not.

What and Scotish are Scotish were all British Scotty boy!

But I do think England should have its own national anthem rather than use the British anthem. There should also be a secretary of state for England like Wales,Scotland&Northern Ireland have.

Do you think britain or america ever do anything for anyone? We're all as selfish as each - welcome to capitalism :D

Its ok for britain and america to hold talks, fund, train and supply oppresive regimes (taliban, pinochet, bin laden, saddam, etc.) - but the second Chirac holds talks with Mugabe its an international scandel? Does no one else see the double standard?

Its all good and well for human rights activists to oppose the french for talking to Chirac - but the second US or UK open their mouths its a case pots and kettles.

    Mother-beetches

    What a load of shite!

Firstly, despite it being a good thing that Saddam is no longer in power, the way we went about acheiving it was totally morally and legally wrong. The french recognised this, and most english-speaking people slagged them off because of their morals/principles. Secondly, the French govt. is not corrupt, it works as well as, if not better, than our own. I don't have enough time, and can't remember enough about it to try and back this up here, you'll just have to trust me; I studied it for two years. Thirdly, I don't think many people in this country realise how much we appropriate from the french: music trends, fashion, art, interior design, cars, food, philosophy all come to mind, and that's just off the top of my head. So if we're accepting all this french influence, why do the English as a race feel the need to take the piss? Bringing me to my fourth point: Mr Scottyfish, think about what you're saying. Why do prefer saying your English to British? It smacks of Nationalism and immaturity. Great Britain was one of the greatest, wide-spread, and richest empires ever, have some pride that you're part of the little that's left.

Don't come on here very much, so just spotted this. The only point in the thread that i agree with is, it's true, if you speak french fast enough, it can sound pretty gay!:p

These are just my opinions, and I'm sure they're as open to criticism as the next guy's.:dunce:

Good point, but also what about Panama, the US fcuked that country over completely, glossed over it, and moved on to the next.

PowPong> what makes you say that? you're lack of education? or you're unhealthy tendency to jump on bandwagons?

He has pride in being English just like Scotish & Welsh have pride in saying that they are Scotish & Welsh. It is the left that try & make being English sound wrong.

Where is my double standard :p I reognise that no government works out the kindness of its heart - they all have an ulterior motive... However my loathing of the US government stems from years of murder, the french don't have that track record.

The Scottish and Welsh are conquered nations. I don't want to demean them in saying that, but it's true in the bloodiest sense of the word. I don't necessarily agree with how England went about building her empire, but i think it's an insult to all the nations we plundered and raped to dump the Great Britain tag now.

I don't know much about this though, so feel free to correct me.

    "I've got Jacques Chiracs back..."

Your mate Uncle Jacques for years has protected French citizens who killed/grassed on Jewish people in WW2. You condemn the UK & USA for war crimes, we cant get some people to war tribunals because of Uncle Jacques.

Being Jewish & anti American is a commendable stance something I have not seen since I was reading I like lights views on the Crasher board.

I dont mind your anti US stance but please dont be PRO Uncle Jacques.

    Re: Re: Re: Mother-beetches

Your right we should use the British tag at all times & only in local disputes/competitions refer to out regional location. Like a lot of my Northern Irish friends I am also pissed off at the title of Great Britain & Northern Ireland.

The american's may of prevented my extemination :D but that doesn't mean I should turn a blind eye to the atrocities (sp?) they commit on a daily basis.

I'm pro-Jacques because he follows the diplomatic route.... America/Britain don't...

More people in this country protested about fuel costs than the stop the war, so Blair is only doing what the people really want. I am sure once the benefits of this war filter down to garage forecourt people wont give a Baghdad's or Basira about Iraq.
