say strange local things, like "get wrong" which is not just a North_East thing, it's pure geordie. So is saying "needs washed" instead of "needs washing" or "needs to be washed" Makems just don't talk like that.

People in Leicester call each other "duck" even blokes, very peculiar.

    Any more?

I'm pretty good at this, cos my ex-girlfriend's from Cheshire, so I was always getting blank looks when I spoke to people down there :spangled:
"Get wrong" is the one I've had the most bother with. Other things people can usually re-arrange and get a logical answer from, but '"Get wrong" is, to be honest, absolute jibberish.
A lot of people I know from the Midlands, places like Leicester, Dudley, etc don't understand a word I say, and find my accent highly amusing, especially when I say stuff like "Howay"!

I think it's a case of the further South you go, the less people are gona understand ya. I think that works the same way though. As was pointed out, people in Leicester call eachother "Duck", which was oh so much fun in my trip to Leicester early last year. Didn't understand a word anybody said!
Mancs say some stupid stuff too, like callin a breadbun a Barm Cake
Although Scottish people call breadbuns rolls, and a slice of bread "a piece". Nutters.

saying "us" instead of "me", like in "get us a pint in" must be canny unique.

    "Canny" always confuses.

"fettle" is me personal fave though :D

What do you mean by fettle? As in someone is in fine fettle, meaning on form/well?

As far as I know it isn't a geordie word, unless you have some strange meaning for it.
