it's all good. breaking the month up.

the same thing seemed to be happening here as with lush.

listening to the message board is fine... but people must remember that everyone who goes to promise isnt represented on here.

although clubs now have more feedback from the board members, wot they say, shouldnt nessesarily go.

the same goes with following 1 style imo. when the bubble bursts on 1 style of music... the club bursts too... then struggles to find a new direction/crowd.

keep it fresh... keep every1 on their toes.

'you can please some of the people, some of the time..... u can NEVER please ALL of the people ALL of the time'.

    that is all.

I have to say, when I first started reading about the changes I thought, the same as many, that a classics night once a month would be too much but when the plans for next year have been explained I am very very impressed.

I am also impressed by the size of you're balls Mark, you pulled the main forum at the risk of upsetting many people on the board but from what I hear you seem to have made the right decision. Changing the structure of the night is also very brave IMO but the right decision, Promise is excellent as it is but I think a change will make it even better and make it stand out from the rest.

By the sound of it Promise is going to get much much better next year, as many people have said the same people may have played a little bit much this year but with the new structure this might not happen and we will get a lot more variation and that can only be a good thing.

Mark - I'm guessing the prices will very from night to night, do you have any idea when we will find out what the prices will be? Also, will the nights be fixed (i.e Classics then Ressies then Dogs Knackers Line Up then Debut then Classics then Ressies etc etc)?

mark i thinks its great thats nxt year is chenging 4 promise, out of me n my mates i am the only 1 willing to come to promise every week but i only get there around one or twice a month which i cant help cause ive got no 1 else who wud go cause of the price of gettin in and taxi.

so if the prices r cheaper and there is goin to b a platinum nite i thinks i good get my mates to come more often.

i am really pleased with the new idea cant wait 4 the residents nites aswel 5 hours of hardwick amazing.

    hope it all works out

Classics night is a good idea, it's worked for Gods. Only problem is, a lot of ppl are complaining that it is too regular there and is losing it's appeal. Gods was initially hosting a classics night once a month but has now changed this to either bi-monthly or quarterly so it retains that "special night" quality.

Not just classic nights, if you have too many "special nights", people get accustomed to them and expect them all the time. Gods "European Producers Night" last week wasn't the best from all accounts as people were saving themselves for the Tiesto solo this weekend. If Tiesto didn't follow so quick, I feel that the Euro night would have been far more popular.

    IMO, anyway!

Good luck for it, hope it works out well. :)

Promise have always acknowledged this, the likes of Picotto and John Kelly were slated no end on the messageboard - yet they proved two of 2001/2's most popular bookings...

(I don't think Picotto will pull huge promise crowds again though as most folk now know he's a techno dj)

However there are certain folk on this board (yourself included) who I'd personally pay a lot of attention to, they're far more clued up than ur average geordie and have a good ear for music and a good insight into what the next clubbing trends will be.

Some of the changes sound good ideas, others less so. I still think that some nights need to be less regular to regain that special quality/buzz about them.

Can't wait for the main forum to come back in the New Year tho. :D

    so next year its:

    1. trance classics
    2. residents
    3. debut nite
    4. promise old thingee

i think the idea of the debut nite is good.... godskitchen seem 2 be pulling it off with there futuregods nites.. i agree with mr revel that i can listen to old tunes anytime i want and think that a classic nite every month (even with different styles of music) will get a bit repetitive and will possible be the quieter nite of the month... the residents nite will be gr8 espec. if there are 5+ hr sets but again after a while cud get repetitve...

i guess all we can do is sit back and see what happens..

Unless the dj is very versatile longer sets usually drag out and get boring fast - I personally don't like the marrathon sets crasher do (pvd, picotto, etc.) however they're usually muckle busy nights so I guess I'm on my own :D

I think a 5hr set would suit matt hardwick down to the ground. He is awesome when he plays first or last so giving him 5 hours would be wicked :D:D:D

Nooooooooooooo! Trance classics will be totally BORING once a month. I think three times a year is enough, remember, its classics, we dont wanna hear it every month. What makes classics night so special is that we haven't heard all these wikkid tunes for ages, once a month is too much! People will get bored, then less people will come.

Instead, consider booking an up and coming DJ bi monthly and m have a residents night bi monthly too (but not trance classics, also have Lee Foster play aswell, look at what he did to the place when he made his debut- he rocked it)

I dont think its a good idea going down the same route as Passion and Golden, do something slightly different, like what I have suggested, its would be much more exciting, I reckon the dance floor would be kickin! Reviewers and clubbers come from all over to go to all sorts of clubs, we dont want them saying "This has been done before, whats new?!"

Also maybe look to booking the likes of JFK, Scott Bond, Guy Ornadel, Corvin, etc a bit less, new names (they dont have to be huge) more often may attract more people, coz its something new.
