Auntie Flo's productions have been causing a recent stir with his debut Goan Highlife EP on Huntleys and Palmers winning him fans across the musical spectrum. It sold out on pre-order and was rated ‘Tune of the Week’ at Rub a Dub and Boomkat.com leading to an immediate repress and Radio 1 airplay. It has received support from Ricardo Villalobos, Gilles Peterson, Andrew Weatherall, Caribou, Tensnake amongst others. Next up, 'Oh My Days' which is already getting played by Jackmaster, Joy Orbison and Pearson Sound, the later of whom liked it so much he asked if he could remix it. Auntie Flo's Future Rhythm Machine album drops later this year and various remixes will be coming out in the next few months. Auntie Flo's influences are far flung, referencing; Villalobos, Four Tet and Caribou, to Fela Kuti, William Onyeabor and kwaito, alongside Kode 9's Hyperdub, Chicago house, Matias Aguayo's Comeme imprint and some of the current movers and shakers from the UK scene. Djing in Glasgow over the past ten years has helped him develop a tight mixing style, influenced by the Sub Club, Soma, Numbers and the rest of the flourishing Glasgow scene. Notable previous gigs include alongside Ricardo Villalobos, Four Tet, Nicolas Jaar, Jamie Lidell, Amon Tobin, Caribou, Caspa, Scissor Sisters, Zoot Woman, Plaid, Luke Vibert, Tevo Howard and many more. Recent sets have included at T in The Park, Hung Up (Optimo), Arches, Plastic People, Off-Sonar Barcelona, Mela Oslo and many more. Auntie Flo Live show is a work in progress, utlising a mainly hardware set up and teaming up with Esa Williams (Rememory Music / Subclub) to provide live percussion that is designed for the dancefloor. His residency at Highlife focuses on ‘future afro-beat’ sounds from the across the black Atlantic diaspora - everything from Chicago House, Detroit Techno and Disco to Cumbia, Kwaito and Afrobeat. Recently celebrating it's first birthday with Shackleton and an off-Sonar beach party in Barcelona, Highlife has repeatedly explored new musical genres and cultures from around the globe including a UK debut for Mexican Rebolledo (Co´meme), Mim Suleiman from Tanzania, UK Funky from T. Williams, jackin' house from Capracara (DFA / Soul Jazz), showcasing exclusive live afro-futurism from local boy Bamboo Palace (LuckyMe), favela funk from Alejandro Paz (Chile) and South African house from Esa (Sub Club).
