In 2006 I once had geordie lee and crazy jimi in the back of me car enroute to watching jon obir at the phoenix in hexham at an event I 99% helped to organise with a "promoter" (note the use of the use of the word in inveretd comas) called stephen from up there.

Judge Jules came on the radio and namechecked DETOX on radio 1 and JON OBIR was getting interviewed, we nearly crashed the car in exciktement / shock etc etc....(hell I aint the best of drivers at the best of times). Anyway...... had I crashed the car and killed my passnegers then we wouldnt now be listening to the inspiration of geordie lee and thew oceans would be afar less safe place as submarine commander jimmi wouldtn be keeping us safe at night from the evil of the world.

in case anyone is wondering all of the above is true.

people often ask why i run detox and put up with all the hassle ......its so that I can wheel out ditties like the above.....it aint for the fame it aint for the money.............there are many a local "promoter" who should stop trying to chase the fame, stop running events purely to put their name out there and get other gigs off the back of it.....and to big themselves up on beatport or fadgebook......PEOPLE have lost sight of what its all about......it should be about nothing more than the fun , fuck everything else.

at the end of the day all you need to know is does the music make you want to dance (liam howlett -91) and even if you havent got a pot to piss in at the end of the day as long as you had a good time and at you made others have a good time then it was worth it (madders-sometime in thne noughties).

Anyway lee ran me off a copy of the show (top lad) and even tho he used to drive me round the bend in the board council I laways had a lot of time for him and he goes to show anything is possible.

I think he drove jimmi as much round the bend in the council too lol

ME AND JIMMI USED TO block vote lol when we wanted to veto things , then rob stitched us up by running a really short re-election so we couldnt mobilise our vote and we ended up with dan hawkings as a council member lol

but that car ride will always be with me ha ha

as will the time I bumped into sasha in leeds and told him i wanted to hear lots of wind and whoosh noises in his set that night and the time i asked tony de vit to play the same record 3 times and he got mildly annoyed with me for doing so cos I was that battered lol (can you play black is black is balck by the allnighters tony lol)

or the time I told john oo fleming to get out of the car and navigate me round an ambulence on the way to the power house. You couldnt make this up honestly.

Anyway this place was a better place when geordie lee used to be on here regularly but I guess some things change and people move on

i hope he becomes mega successful and I can tell this story to my mates when he does lol

....oh that reminds me there was also the classic time hoover groover (real name derek) nicked this really fat lass who was a nailed on shag for geordie lee in world headquarters at a night that kerry james and vicky vegas put on called LICKED.

in the end hoover groover stole her from lee took her round the back of headquarters and tried to shag her, but she ended up lifting his wallet and bled all over him as she was on her period .... what a lucky escape lee had there lol

if conway has access to the archives on here that story is in there somehere around the time of 2003/2004 I think when we were runnning boatox / detox overboard part II - august 2004 i think .

from where i am sitting whereas 10 years ago everyone wanted to be dj now theres no "kudos" in that cos everyone can own a set of cdjs everyone can beat match easily and everyone can knock out mixes left right and centre that are beat perfect. if they cant they just use ableton and play it all recorded

now every man and his dog are paying people to engineer tracks with loosely sampled /stolen riffs, setting up distinctly average digital labels with endless digital releases and going round telling everyone they are label boss i find the whole thing extremely baffling

but hell....maybe its the modern males way of demonstarting their alpha-ness

jesus this board is so fucking quiet and dead cos no one ever says anything of any note or controversial, i mean all jimmi has said in here is that geordie lee isnt funny, i tell you what he's a damn sight funnier than any of jimmis drooling ramblings on a night out at junior g circa the mid 2000 and noughties.

Then you read posts by people saying they cant wait to go to a night with some big hitters and then come monday they are asking what it was like ....for fucks sake man .....total "internet" clubbers.....have the courage of your convictions and go out and support something if you say you are going to.

the best night i have had by a country mile was the northumberland arms last sat which went on til about a quarter to lateness, no entry fee, zero big names , some of newcastles best techno djs and not one of them posing preening or wondering whether their hair was parted or combed on the right side plus a round of drinks that cost less thasn a fiver.

This is hardly david brentizm at all.

...most of the producers and wanabee promoters that come on this board are doing it for their own self glorification and in the hope that they are going to be the next armin, pvd or tiesto but they need to wake up and smell the roses and realise that most of them get gigs/ sets at gashtastic branded events primarily because they are selling like 30-40 tickets and it has fuck all to do with any kind of talent whatsoever cos the difference in "technical" ability is like looking at shades of grey paint. What i find even more laughable is that if the "big time" promoters actually sat there for just 1 minute and thought it through they would come to the realisation that the people that are buying these tickets would end up going into their big city centre club anyway.

anyway as i said GEORDIE LEE - an inspiration and showing us the way to overcome adversity through the medium of comedy.

jimmi when you are ready to return to clubland or rather the rave proper let us know but quotes like drugs are for mugs by newcastles biggest yesteryear pill monster hardly makes me take you "seriously" and proudys finest days imho were when he was winding up the poster mafia in town and refusing to bow down to digitals dave stone monopolisation of the local club scene (well that is until his compliance was "bought" by playing the warm up set for deamau5 at the O2) lol
