Recently updated the firmware on the old mk3's and now I'm noticing the pitch wont stay where its supposed to, tunes in sync will waver ever so slightly knocking the mix off. Its not a noticeable difference when listening to a tune on its own but mixing is a ball ache. I cant tell if its both cdj's or just one either. I did come to the conclusion I was just shit at beatmatching but I'd rather not believe that! Anyone got any ideas on what to do? Is there a way of rolling back the firmware? Decks are 4 years old and never had a problem before
Burn the same mp3 to two CD's and beatmatch them at an odd pitch (like, +1.35% or something) and see if they drift then.
It's barely noticeable, but I can hear it, and seems to come and go. Is it possible the pitch % is out on one of them?
that is fucking bizarre. What happens at other pitch levels, like 2.02, or 3.42? Do they still drift?
Haven't had chance to investigate fully! I'll have a play around over the weekend and see what happens!
Right I've had a good go, and I know which deck is drifting. However I'm now finding on BOTH decks that cd's are skipping/stopping mid track and an error message E-8302 popping up. I've tried a few different brands of cds, and two copies of the same file on different brands and some work some don't, there's no trend to it, completely random. Looking online it could be something to do with the laser, just find it weird its happened to both cdj's at the same time, and only since the firmware update Wish I hadn't bothered now!!
That error message seems to indicate you have dirty lenses in both players. Have you tried using a cd cleaner?
Thanks for your kind advice, not quite sure why I didn't think of just forking out a grand instead of seeing if I could fix what is in every other respect a perfect piece of kit! Silly me. Although I fail to see why the problem was funny?
