Darren Bent has wised up and got sick of playing in front of a load of empty seats and people who racially abuse his mother. £18M, but why they fuck would he go to Villa?

He can come to Newcastle if he wants. Spends enough time over this side of the water. Leon Best loves Sunderland?

Apparently he has asked for more money - wants 90k a week and the club have basically said no, which is the reason he wants away.

Sad to see really from someone who talked openly about wanting to become a club legend and break the goal record of SKP only a few months ago, and you realise that in football nowadays there is little loyalty and money is what it comes down to for most players, even the ones who say the right things in the press...

We will take the cash and move on. Theres a ready made replacement in Danny Welbeck already at the club who over the past few months has outshone both Bent and Gyan and links up a lot better with Gyan than Bent ever has. Whether or not SAF will let him go though will be another question.

We still need to get someone else in short term as we are still a forward down even if we did sign Welbeck. Suppose someone like Robbie Keane at the right price would be an option as his B'ham move has broken down, and would personally love to see Stephen Ireland be made part of the deal to come from Villa as he is just what we are missing in midfield.

Players come and go and I'll be watching Sunderland long after Bent or any other player leaves, and noone is ever bigger than the club and we have done the right thing IMO to stand firm over his wage demands. He's already on £65k a week and so hardly struggling, and the demand for more and the willingness to drop from a club in the top 6 to one in the bottom half to get it just epitomizes for me everything thats wrong with the premiership at the moment

I'd have sent Gyan packing over bent. Sunderland will struggle without him, he's pretty much single handedly kept you's in the league the past 2 seasons.

As it stands 1 of the 2 wants to play for the club (Gyan) and 1 doesnt (Bent).

For that reason alone Bent can go for the right price (which 18m rising to 24m definitely is) as he doesnt want to be here and we can bring in a replacement who wants to play for the club and will work with Gyan.

As you probably saw yesterday he hasn't looked himself for a while and out of our 3 forwards for me Welbeck has been the best of them over recent months. Would love to see him stay permanently as he has the potential to become one of the best forwards in the prem.

My only concern is for End clothing, they will come off worst out of the whole thing with the coin he pumped into there on a weekly basis

If we get 18 million for him I'm not that dissapointed to let him go. I've said it since we signed him hes a great goal scorer but he does fuck all else, he can't hold the ball up, he cant cross, his first touch isn't the best. Can't argue with the goalscoring record though lol

If it is just about money I would be interested to see how much Gyan is on in comparison to Bent

Even if you got £30m for him I'd still be absolutely gutted to see him go.

Keane, Gyan and Ireland are not 25 goal-a-season players.

    Interesting stats here -

No of games played this season so far:

    Bent 23
    Welbeck 18
    Gyan 10

No of goals from open play:

    Gyan 7
    Welbeck 6
    Bent 5

Our most effective partnership has been Gyan and Welbeck when theyve been fit.

Radio 5 live reporting now that Robbie Keane certain to sign assuming that Bent goes. Suspect there could be a few more twists in the story before the end of the month though...

To be honest I was actually saying to Nicky yesterday that he hadnt been the same player for a while. I was putting it down to maybe carrying an injury or something, though as it turns out he just wasnt being paid enough to put in 100%?!!!

I would love for him to have stayed at the club if he was happy and hes still one of the best in the business at sticking the ball in the net, though the minute any player wants away and there is that sort of deal on the table its in the best interests of the club to take it and move on IMO.

If we could sign wellbeck it would soften the blow, I stand by him being a one dimensional though I have always said it. I dont want Robbie Keane, i think we are at a level to say Robbie Keane isnt good enough anymore for Sunderland

Taking £24 million for a player who cost us £10m less than 2 years ago and doesnt want to be here anymore is hardly fickle?

I think we should take the money as Bent doesnt want to be here anymore, and my love for the club is greater than my love for Bent.

I wouldnt say anyones lost any affection for the lad and will still hope he does well. point is if he doesnt want to be at the club and not happy playing for sland then its pointless crying about it. just have to make the best and move on. wouldnt say sunderland fans were of a fickle nature its the same with any club. aye ill be gutted to see the back of him but it doesnt change my opinion of him as a player.
