Following the recent success of the Masquerade Halloween Ball held at Newcastle University, DETOX return with Echo Base on Saturday 5th February 2010.

This event sees a return to the secret location ethos that has become synonymous with DETOX events over the last decade.

Spread across two unique spaces and featuring 16 acts & artist’s this event will showcase a special mix of producer sets covering everything from techno,
Psy-trance and hard dance through to old school, beats, breaks & acid house.

The line up goes a little something like this…

ROOM 1: Tech, Trance, Psy-Trance & Hard Dance

SCOTT ATTRILL (Vinyl Groover “Producer” set)

One of the DETOX crowd favourites and an artist that we have showcased regularly over the last 4 years, Vinyl Groover has recently released his third artist album “NOIZE” under the Scott Attrill moniker. Having received album of the month in October’s Mixmag, Scott Attrill’s fusion of nuclear powered hard dance beats are currently the hottest thing on the hard dance scene right now.

TECHNIKAL (North East Debut “Producer” set)

Alf Bamford aka Technikal is one of the hottest hard dance producers of the last 5 years. At long last, DETOX have the pleasure of giving Technikal his North East producer set debut.

DJ “X” (LES LAB 4 “Producer” set)

Having last played for DETOX as one half of the legendary LAB 4 (Live) at their reunion gigs of 2009, we now have the pleasure of showcasing Les-Lab 4 under his DJ “X” guise, after first giving him his North East debut at the infamous fire station 7th birthday event in spring 2008.

NC!!! ~ please note that it was The Darksyderz , well one half of them - youseff wynn who threw a cdj at some one in room two of the detox alchemy event in november 2009.

They were promptly banned from playing or attending any future detox events and to this day have still not offered an explanation for their actions

Other nights were warned of their behaviour and did not heed the warning and something similar happened at hostile about 5-6 months later which then resulted in the darksyderz being dropped as residents at hostile and banned from that event too.

There are some suggestions that the incident at the uni was a scam to extort an insurance claim out of the uni as they are best mates with the kid who had the cdj thrown off him and there are enough instances of said individual mouthing off when twatted for those in the know to believe that this is what was intended all along and although his jaw was allegedly broken and reported to the boys in blue he never at any time fell out with those individuals who launched the cdj and broke his jaw (strange that aint it?).

If you would like to witness cdj launching at any events then unfortunately detox is not the event for you but I can highly recommend a hardstyle event down the road called AKKA at the Empire in boro which is run and promoted by the DARKSYDERZ

Allegedly there were glassings and lasses getting beaten up at the last (n)~AKKA event too. NICE!!!??? lets just say their crowd are a little bit boistrous)

Anyway back to topic, the beast is an immense dj , check out newcastles grizzly adams on the 11th December

So looking forward to going back to a secret location, from what I have heard of the space could be one of the best venues so far, a know melt is excited about it.
