I'd have taken a draw at the beginning of the day

With Blackpool & West Brom already having won a game I fully expected us to be played 2 lost 2

Totally battered them, didnt see that coming at all! Brad Friedel in my dream team, oh dear

Hopefully it put a few ghosts to rest in the players after the harsh lesson we received from ManU last week. Great day for it too - buzzin! :cool2:

serves them right for the weird way they celebrated our relegation last season. They even had a banner which read 'sob on the tyne'...Aye tears of joy and laughter you odious brum cunts.

The first ten minutes were a bit shaky and we were lucky not to concede, but the rest of the game was great. I'm not sure whether it was us being great or them being really poor, but I'll happily take a 6-0 win and I hope it keeps the morale up and continues the home form from last year.

It's early days yet, but I'm hoping this means we have more chance of staying up this season. More of the same please

I think the penalty miss kicked the game off, then after that we seemed to be able to score when we wanted! 3 points off wolves and blackpool will stand us in good stead morale wise, I was loving the geordie vuvuzela crack too :)!!

The geordie vuvuzela was hilarious. As was the number of their fans leaving VERY early.

Great game, class atmosphere and good banter.

Felt rough as fuck this morning mind.

great match, i only watched up until 4-0 and then had to go out.

i've also now sent about 30 text messages to a villa-supporting friend and had absolutely no response.

pleased for andy carroll, who played really well, as did joey barton and enrique. williamson seemed to settle down and play well midway through the first half, bit of a shaky start though.

Carrol looks the business. Total beast of a player.

Expect a massive bid in january

Exactly what me & john said yesterday after the game.
If he keeps up his form throughout the rest of this year I can see a few bigger clubs sticking bids in come Jan.

I'd like to think Carroll would show a bit more loyalty than that mercenary, or am I being too optimistic of the modern day footballer?

Hard to say. It's early days yet like, he's shown glimpses of the player he could be, but he needs to be consistently at that level before anyone can start talking about him getting England caps or other teams showing an interest.

One things for sure - if he stays where he is on that form he'll start every game. You can't say the same if he moves to the likes of Chelsea, Man U, etc.

Carrol is a funny one its going to be interesting to see how his career progress's.

Players of his elk only get slower as they age (hes already 22). His size which is his best asset is also his problem, players cant get about the pitch as much as with speed. Hes not "slow" at the moment but hes still got the spring of youth in his movement.

If he bulks up anymore he will be in trouble.

Big lumps upfront are kinda in voge but the teams that matter still like lighting fast slight forwards like Hernandez.

I think Carrol could become a England player tho for sure and maybe stay at Newcastle cos like I say the big clubs might just choose someone else cos of his size

Baby steps gents... he's had 1 good game out of 2 so far.

We need someone with speed to assist him upfront - urgently.
