03/07/10::NO NAME ¡VAMOS! SPECIAL: OCTA PUSH (FABRIC) +MORE @ THE TYNE

Quite possibly the last Tyne party ever!.........??????........

A worthy headlining act to what is an end of an era… Octa Push are made up of two Portuguese brothers Dizzycutter and Mushug who came together after being challenged to perform live together by a Lisbon promoter.

Making their vinyl debut in summer 2009 they have since featured on the recent critically lauded Fabric compilation Elevator Music Vol. 1, provided mixes for Fact magazine, appeared at Sonar and Glade Festival and count Radiohead’s Thom Yorke as one of their fans.
Octa Push perform an exclusive live set at ¡VAMOS! providing a bass heavy, ragga and UK Funky inspired sound seen through a Portuguese prism.

Ably providing back-up, DJ Vamanos delivered an epic set at ¡VAMOS! 2008 and has since gone from strength to strength DJing all over the world as part of the Radio Clit / Secousse crew. Vamanos mixes good time baille, kuduro, kwaito, zouk, dancehall and bmore to devastating effect allowing an accurate snapshot of what is current in the global electronic music scene. Also don’t forget his blog http://www.ghettobassquake.blogspot.com/ which perfectly encapsulates his musical exploration and has won plaudits from Metro, The Guardian, Observer Music Monthly and The Village Voice.

Local support comes from Alx Alfaro who as the man behind the Musica Mundo events delivers week in week out quality Reggaeton, Hip Hop and Cumbia flavours throughout the region and beyond. He will also be a staging a special Musica Mundo event as part of ¡VAMOS!

Finally, old school heads Raj Pannu (Coldcut), Dave Guy and Nik Barrera (Novak/ 3D DISCO™) who will reprise their Traveller group moniker for old times sake and well, because it’s the last Tyne event! (?)

Coppers aren't happy with the noise levels apparently, despite the fact bands still seem to get gigs there no bother

We originally had 3 events booked in at the Tyne for this summer, just like last year.
But then we were told that they were no longer having '...dance events...'

We had to fight to keep this one happening and was able to, due to us having already booked artists and flights.

Though, the '...no more Tyne events...' statement has been uttered many times before. So who knows??

It all very strange but lets have a great send off to some simply outstanding No-Name Event we have had down there over the years.

Loved the owner tripping the switch at JackMaster and him dropping Sweet harmony then Fleetwood mac when the power came back on.

Dexplicist probably gave our bass bins the toughest work out yet with Bassline felt like the whole courtyard was vibarating at times.

Road to Rimini did a really good Acid House party there as well recently and Dj's are playing with Bands.

Maybe they just want more low-key events after the Habit and No-name events that were totaly Rammed.

We work with owner to make sure he was happy with the sound levels and enviromental health never came down so its hard to know as a soundsystem what level are acceptable.

Also the rules regarding noise pollution before 11pm are different to those after, but at the end of the day even if he must of made a killing, it not worth the owner losing his licence or us getting a bad reputation with council officials over sound levels with events.

I heard that it's the owners complaining about having no control over people taking their own booze into the courtyard bit, or anywhere else for that matter? I've never seen any police or anything and by the sounds of what people have said there's been no officials wopping on about the sound?

Shame like, Simon Baker at habit stands out as one of my all time great days/nights out.

Sounds like a combination of everything really, the police came to the Simon Baker event took one look at the road block and went away.

Took me about 15 mins to get from the amp rack to the bog.

Its a shame as there was no trouble but the volume i can imagine being a problem when its 8 weekends over the summer.

Typical council over action though you would think they want to encourage business and events that bring people to newcastle.

You would think poeple could come to a comprimise.

Yeah we're doing one at the end of July, although i'll not be there as i'm off to Folk Ibiza.

These parties will always have a run then have to calm down as they get more succesfull and various people start to cotton onto them. The Tyne have been having parties for around 15 years now, so it isnt a case of things going to shit just as they get good. They've always been good!

The Ship was always going to come a cropper at some point, it was only a matter of time.

About 200 metres away to another place in Heaton, new house is a bit like Dilston but 98 times nicer and no idiots like Pete and Sagar living there making me shotgun cans of Stella on a Tuesday night.
