My jobs either going to be in danger or i'll be rushed off my feet. Either way i lose.

I voted Lib Dem would have rather saw them form a coalition but well just have to get on with life, Time will tell if me and others were wrong with votes and i hope for the sake of the country i was. Hopefully they won't fuck things up. Just got to give them a chance really it's one thing being opposed to them like plenty were but they are in now so there's no point hating them until they give people something to hate.

i'm going to be serious for a moment, because i've just caused a bit of controversy on facebook and i don't want anyone to think i'm a heartless cunt.

i can see where people are coming from with comments and experiences like the above, but i've really never experienced any of that. this isn't a "look at me, i'm so much better than you" post, but i've never had any family who were miners or any any other professions which lost out in the early eighties, so i really don't know what it's like. in voting conservative, i'm simply backing what i think would be best for me in the long run, as my memories from the eighties and early nineties and the previous conservative government are very good. i've always been brought up a conservative supporter and i'm sure those of you who have been brought up the other way can empathise with this.

now back to being an arse...

That sums up Conservatism. Its all about the individual, not society.

That said, i am reserving judgement on the coalition until i hear exactly what Clegg has managed to negotiate out of the deal.

Anyone who is dissapointed that the Lib Dems have jumped into bed with the Tories, should at least be pleased that the party they voted for are at least getting to call some of the shots. Surely it is better than letting Cameron and Co do whatever the hell they want for the next 5 years?

i know, i cant understand people who are slagging them off. they've went from the party which could have little or no-influence to the running of the country to having more power overall than labour which is now the shadow cabinet.

    well in Clegg i say.

Nick Clegg has probably come out of this the best. Last Friday he was fucked, had lost seats and had absolutely no chance of staying on as party leader. Now he's benefited massively from an awkward situation and actually got himself and his party some say in the running of the country.

I've always said that the Liberal Democrats would absolutely shit themselves if they actually gained power. Here's a chance for Clegg and Cable to prove me wrong.

I can understand it, it was my initial gut reaction too. But then you think about it rationally, and its really the best result we could have hoped for given the undemocratic voting system and the Tory bias of the vast majority of our (Tory run) press.

If they hadnt agreed, we may have ended up with a minority Tory government, who then decided to hold another election in six months time. Leading up to that election, the whole of the right-wing gutter press would try to destory Clegg, saying it was he who blocked a stable government, and convincing everyone that PR would bring about the same confusion every time. And we would probably end up with a majority Tory government, and then we really would be fucked!

Any village built around a business is going to deteriorate when the business closes.

The only thing the conservatives did wrong with the pits was to be in power when they had to close. It was cheaper to import coal than to dig it up here because of how badly they were managed. This is still a fact today.

How many businesses have closed in the last 8 years? Are they all Labours fault? Probably not entirely, just a fact of the current economy with a little bit of input from the current (or past!) government.

Labour jumped on the pit closures to get support from the working people and seem to forever have held on to this labour for the working man mantra. The gap between the rich and poor has grown even bigger under a labour government! Its a bloody laugh

And before you ask, Painter & Decorator and Housewife, and I voted Liberal.

Turned shit holes like murton, south hetton, easington, horden and blackhall into shit holes with mass unemployment.

The CON's sold too much of national industries they really should of kept 29.9% of each company & made it law that no UK gov could sell that stake. This country would be fucking booming now. I would imagine after tax the next biggest windfall the current crowd will get will be when they sell off the Northern Rock & get all the loan + interest paid back & then sell shares of RBS & Lloyds TSB (IIRC one if not both are making profit again which mean money every year into the coffers until sale of shares) these deals done by Gordon Brown will make the nation billions of pounds profit on the outlay.
