New feature: Facebook integration

Over the last few days I've been testing facebook integration with the board to see how easy it is to use and if there are any bugs.

This will allow new users to discover the board via facebook. It will allow them to sign up to use the board without going through the long and slow registration process, hopefully meaning it will attract some new people to the board.

It also allows existing users to integrate their facebook profile into their board profile, meaning any posts or threads people on here make are posted to their facebook profile.

I've added some control to it as well - people can control what is posted to their facebook pages via the user control panel.

I'm now up to the point where I'm happy with it and I'm now opening it up to testing to see if anyone spots any problems with it.

If you want to have a go at it, select the "Nucastle Basic" style via the style chooser at the bottom of the page. Click "Connect via Facebook Connect" and it should sign you in.

The Facebook button won't appear if you're logged in, so you may want to log out first.

Please note: Use of this feature involves adding a facebook application to your profile, which allows the message board and facebook to talk to each other.

I've had to make a lot of changes to make this work, so if any of you notice the board behaving strangely or any error messages, please let me know and I'll sort it out

It won't show up if you're already logged in. Log out and it should show up below the login box on each page.

Made some changes to this:

1) The board application can now post messages on your wall when you reply to a thread or create a new thread.
2) Any friends on facebook who use the board (and are using the application too) will be added to your boards friends list on your profile.
3) Support for facebook profile linking on the board profiles.
4) New privacy control.

I know that some facebook applications posting shit all over people's walls can be annoying, so there is also a user "facebook" control panel on the board, where you can control exactly what the board app does with your facebook profile, and you can turn off any notifications you don't want.

To use it, go to your user control panel and click "Facebook Bridge Options" or click here: http://www.nucastle.co.uk/profile.php?do=fbb. You can also disconnect your facebook account from the board from here if you don't want to use the application any more.

Any posts you make in the private section of the board won't be shown to people on bookface

If you change it, it shouldn't reappear.
